Hey, would you buy a flat in Park Heights? (Stockwell park estate)
Hi, did you move in - I am looking at one of these studios now? I am also a single female
Hello, my mum is 67, and is being quite a recluse and depandant on me. I was wondering if there was a group or classes anything that she could get involved in during the day on a weekly basis, in Clapham, stockwell area?
There are two yoga studios on Landor road, one on hubert grove just off landor road called synchronicity which is really funky and they have a new venue called claphamspace at 1 landor road, next to the clapham north pub.
im living in salisbury, wilts now. but id love to go back and have a look round both stockwell manor(the old school name) and stckwell gardens. id love to find out who may still live there. it really would be a sentimental journey for me. i had such happy times there.
In the 1911 census I found some family members living at 17 Love Lane, Stockwell. Does anyone know if this is now Stockwell Lane?

The Stockwell area is not safe especially at night! It is rife with drunks, drugs and gangs of pick-pockets. The Northern Line has always had crime related problems as it is a main travel route and commuters are regularly targetted for cash, jewellrey & mobile 'phones. The police don't do anything as this ongoing situation has escalated out of control. Don't live there if you don't have to.
no you will be fine stay too the well lit streets, obviously there is crime everywhere now but, its no worse than parts of north or east london, unfortantly its more the people on the estates that are targets, enjoy yourself you have one in a **** chance in being the victim
Does any body remember Ronnie and Winnie Preston that lived at stocwell road (188??) would like to contact rest of family to find older members i.e rennie which was Ronnie and Freds sister to see if still alive and mybe catch up on lost years DAVE Preston
we were thinking about moving to springfield estate, and our main concern is the safety. where abouts do you live? your post seems to be the most negative weve seen which is quite a concern. all the posts on here from girls say its fine as long as you are careful, but i guess we want as many opinions as possible. thanks.
I'm thinking of moving into one of the flats in The Quadrant at the end of Lingham Street - what's the area like? And if you live in the block already - anything I should be wary of?
Are you mad???? Why on earth would you want to move there? You should most definitely worry about walking around on that estate on your own, or even NOT on your own, at night. I grew up there & as soon as I could I got the hell out!
My boyfriend is born and bread in Stockwell, and it is not a down and out place. I visit there on a regular occasion and everyone is always very friendly, like anywhere there are a few frightening faces! Like anywhere there are some rough pubs, and a few dodgy looking streets, but not everything and everywhere is shabby. I agree there isnt a whole lot to do, but when the tube station is on your doorstep does there really need to be?
It has all amenities, and nothing is too far away.
Not everyone, and everything is down and out here. PLEASE dont let people lead you to believe this.
I'm also a female and just about to decide whether to take a studio in Stockwell as well but my main concern is whether its a safe place to live or not. As per the Metropolitan police site this are is quite alright compared to others near Central London, Paddington curiosly enough seems to be one of the worse areas...anyway I have to decide asap if I should have the studio or not and was looking for more information on how this area is like regarding safety...I know its London...but I'd like to know whether I'd be safe if I have to stay working late and come back home alone after...can anyone help? Is the tube safe as well?

Stockwell is convenient. Has good transport and is central. It used to be cheap to live here because it also can be dangerous. Have a close look at the council estates and decide for yourself if they are dodgy. I can say that It is not safe for a single female on the quiet roads.
I have rented various places in Stockwell for 3 years now and found it safe and a very well serviced area for transport shops and nights out in Clapham and the West End. The 24 hour Cost Cutter supermarket next to the tube is well stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables and French bread. Cafe Nile is one of Stockwell’s best kept Moroccan secrets that randomly do amazing Greek Salads! The area has experienced huge progress since I have lived here. Long live Stockwell- may you find the area as convenient and fun as I have. Love to you all, Sallyxx
It's a cess pit of social deprevation and scurvy. I'm waiting for a real rain to wash the scum from the streets.
I'm thinking of moving into the newly refurbished apartments at Courland Grove (Eurotower). I just want to ask how safe is the area at night, especially since it's near the park. Is it well lit? I'm a single female and am a bit worried about this.
New classes starting at Synchronicity Studios, off Landor Rd, excellent classes in Yoga, Pilates, Chigung and even Arabic Dance!

If anyone knows of an active writing circle or group working in short stories, please let me know. Thanks!
I grew up and lived in Brixton / stockwell, went to Durand primary, and Kennington secondary. My mum decided to move to Florida after the riots, she had enough of how the place was going down hill.
I live in Stockwell and i dont think is scary there it depends what estate you live in.If you live in stockwell park estate is ok there, I lkike living in sw9 because i have loads of friends there and just remmember iam female and iam 14
I am just about to put an offer in on a flat in fairbairn green. I cant find any info on the area or this building. Could anyone help as I like the area but have no info. It is like none have ever been sold but thats impossible?Anything would be appreciated.
REALLY COOL BAR, WITH GOOD VIBES. YOU SHOULD TRIED IT. REALLY NEAR THE STOCWELL STATION-
I am a member of Horizons Gym on Liberty Stret. It is, as was previously stated, on Liberty Street by the Durand Primary School. I don't think it has a net presence, which is probably why you can always use all of the equipment there, including a Power-Plate, at no extra cost! Best to pop round and see the place, the staff are friendly and helpful. Best gym/pool for miles.
Yeah, I've heard only bad stuff about it too. Why is that? I kinda bought a flat just behind the station and was wondering if I will be safe coming home at midnight at times?
I need to be certain and assured..lol... Guess I'm just getting the jitters huh? I know London can be rough in some areas, but I thought Stockwell wasn't that bad????
Anyways, mail me if ya want but will chech the thread soon....ish!
A really great pub with a fabulous venue attached.

PLEASE DELETE THIS OFFENSIVE POSTING - WHY HAVE YOU ALLOWED THIS ON THE SITE THANK YOU
I read all the postings and have seen that Alana has made viscious and spiteful comments about a poster on this site, as usual she likes to create divisions - I would say Alana cut out all the nasty comments about people, you come across as a controlling person and that is not the purpose of these sites. if you cant behave like a decent person then dont post. People are fed up with your nastiness on this site as on other sites!
Hi Alana, hope the information I gave re writing group was helpful to your friend in Clapham?
Hello clare. it seems he might just know what his doing going by tonight game. Good game
seems like the new England manager will be keeping the England team in order, about time too, they were allowed to get away with too much off the field which meant they didnt give it their all on the field.
Hi Patrick, we'll have to hope England play better next match. Wales did really well in the second half.
Hello clare. shame about England losing but cheer up you can always help me to support Wales. Joke

Sad news about Jeremy Beadle dying, his programmes gave people a lot of laughs. May he rest in peace.
Yeah like hell it is
And as Julian kisses Phil goodnight we say Bonjour...
Alana & Zoe, sadly they are a fact of life - they can hide behind the anonimity that an online forum offers them and say things that they wouldn't dream of saying to your face. I find the best policy is to ignore them. If you feel hurt, write a message of reply- but don't post it, delete it instead, at least you'll get your feelings out. If a bully is persistent, e-mail the forum's webmaster. Don't let them shut you up - you have as much right to your posting as they do.
Has Madonna performed at Brixton Academy?
Hi Barry, my cousin is going to see Megadeth - I think it is next month but he's never been there before - I will let him know it is a good venue. Was Madonna on there before?
I have seen plenty of gigs at Brixton Academy..It is a great venue!..Are you going to see a band?

Yes, i did see last night's Coronation Street, i was sad to see Vera go, but think in real life she is ill. Wonder if they will find Jack and new partner!!!! No, haven't watched Ladettes. Hope you got your writing circle sorted out, thought Clare was rather rude, her comments were not particularly friendly or helpful.
anyone interested in drama, you could always check out the South London theatre in West Norwood, doing a production of Dracula at the moment, some local theatres welcome newcomers interested in acting, and also for behind the scenes help which is a good way of getting in and seeing what is going on.
