Does anyone know of the Whitman,Kramer or Kirkwood family from the 1900s.
Or a Constance who gave birth in 1909 and adopted her son Charles to the Whitman family.
Does anyone know anything about Constance in 1909,who was possibly a nurse.
Also anything about a doctor or dentist with the surname Kramer or Kirkwood.
This would complete my sons research with our family tree.
Thank you in advance.

which would you perceive to be 'safer' for a female to live in?
1) House on Thorpebank road, Shepherd's bush W12.
2) House on Wallingford avenue, North Kensington W10.
Why does everyone perceive Kensington to be snobby just because its an upmarket area to live in? People who work hard and like living in nice houses or don't mind paying higher rent to live in this borough are not necessarily snobby, they just like enjoying the finer things in life. Work hard to stay in the area and pay higher council tax to keep the area clean. Just because I like living here I do not look my nose down at anyone. I treat people like how I would like to be treated and do not judge other people. Why should this area and its locals be judged just because its a wealthier borough? State your reasons for this thought? I have not experienced this before?
Me and my boyfriend have lived here for 8 months now and we love the area. Every morning I get up and there are beautiful streets and houses all around. Kensington high street is close by where you can find loads of shops, restaurants. Holland park is gorgeous and I will not move out of the area because of this. The library is good. The streets are clean. You feel very safe walking around at anytime. Its so close to Oxford st, Notting hill, Hyde Park. When you're out in the town you can get on a bus which wont take very long to get you back. What more can I say. I love living here and refuse to move elsewhere.
Im claire and 25 also. Would love to meet other women in the area who would like to meet for iced coffees and cocktails. Lunch, shopping, girly chat and gossip.

I have worked last 3 years in Kensington and i am Looking for D1 property or sharing space for Physiotherapy in central London areas of Kensington, Chelsea, Olympia, Holland park, Notting Hill Gate, for Medical Use. prefer larger but would consider 1,000sqft up. To rent or sharing with some one.
Gosh that sounds intriguing but it may just be a tale told to children to explain the houses.
In fact they were specifically designed and built as artists' studios - large windows to give a good "north-light" (lots of light to see and paint by but no direct sunlight) and warehouse-like access to winch in and out large canvasses that would be too big to bring in through the door and up the stairs.
On the other hand they would be just as good for keeping a weather eye out for the state of the moon and dancing under the (nearly) open sky without being overlooked. You could also fly straight out on your broomstick rather than taking off from the front steps.
Anyone know anything about witches that used to operate from the freaky looking houses nr Barons Court station? - they're on the main road with big glass windows. Would be interested to know more!
Hi there, I'm looking at moving to Kensington Olympia and have seen places in Sinclair Road / Elsham Road. There seem to be more available and at a lower price than other areas nearby. Anyone know why? I thought maybe the reason was noise from the trains nearby? but would be great to have a more informed opinion

I am a student at Birkbeck College (Uni of London) studying an MSc Human Development, and part of my course requires me to take part in Infant Observations. While this sounds daunting (and maybe uninteresting for some...) it is not as clinical as you may think! It simply means that one hour a week, for about 18 months (probably no more), a warm and open mother will allow me into her home to 'observe' her (or her husbands/other family members) interaction with the new born. I will literally be a fly on the wall, I will not judge, speak or talk to the baby or the mother. I shall not be making notes (this is the clinical part I am afriad people will think), in fact you are not even suppose to notice me.
I am looking for mothers who are expecting to give birth in November or December, or even January, preferably in Central London. I am based in Kensington.

Hello. I'm a female in my 30's - half English, half Iranian.
I've only ever known the English side of my family, so would really like to correspond/meet up with other mixed - English/Iranians or indeed any British born Iranians living in London, purely for general socialising.
I have no preferences as to your age, or whether you are female or male, but this is a genuine ad for friendship, so any responses of a "suggestive/sexual" nature will be treated as "spam"!!
I believe Kensington has a large Iranian community - hence advertising in this section.
Cool Cuts in Holland St off Ken Church St
Does anyone know any good gyms in the area that don't get too crowded?
fulham pools lillie road
I heard that Justin Timberlank was there the other night
siiiiggggghhhhh....why do people ask questions like this
yeah kensington is v upmarket but remember that its still London!...and its still cold and cold!....If u can easily afford to burn money by living in an exclusive part of London, then yes....but dont force yourself to live somewhere just bcoz snobs say 'its rather jolly' or 'it is the ''it' place to be''....try somewhere like chiswick, ealing, richmond etc....I live in Kensington and there are many good points...but u have to pay.....I live here bcoz I live in my dads apartment(he needs someone there)...thats it....if I had to live somewhere else without my daqd having an apartment here, I would move my business to spain, not london(london is like wine, only good for u in moderation)!...theres food 4 thought!
I will get the number for u tomorrow.Could u text me (********3) or email me(better option) just saying ''please forward number of cleaner'' or something to- info at alpineairsystems.com (obviously type in '@' for where ive put 'at') - Ive just changed the format bcoz the posting board removes what it regognises as email addresses!
I use an elderly african lady(hihi...I say elderly...shes about 55-60ish) from my gym...Shes reliable and honest....DOnt have her number to hand...but if ure still looking just send me an email to

Hello i'm isis and i would like to know, if there are forums or sites where i can correspond with people from Kensington. I'm from Belgium x Thank you. Mail me
Thanks very much for your message. I knew Kensington was alright but every time I tell anyone they say 'wow!' so it looks like I'm in for a treat! I won't be getting paid very much and so I'm really lucky to be able to move in there - I'm living for next to nothing by local standards, so I'm fortunate not to be much further out. Thank you for the inside info and also for your good wishes.
Wow, lucky you. I lived and worked there for many years. Church St Ken is a great shopping area. some bars, but a hug number of restaurants. Superb axcess to practically anywhere as the tube is right in the middle of the Hi St! You should be in Blackfriars in 30min I would say. You have M&S and House of Fraser along with numerous fashion shops. Your best greengrocer would be Safeway or M&S. I enjoyed every moment of my life there. Oh there is the Roof Gardens which is a superb club just above House of Fraser. They say you have to be a member, however talk nice to the door man and you can get in for £20. I do not play tennis, however I know there is one in Olympia which is just down the road from you.
You are in for many happy times living in Kensington High Street. Good luck
I'm moving to HS Ken from Bristol and am just interested to find out more about the place..
-like where is cool to hang out after work?
-is there a good greengrocer?
-how long will it take on the tube to blackfriars in rush hour?
-is there an independent cinema?
-is it a lively place? (I'm only 22)
-are there any tennis courts?.. and does anyone want to play?
Any info would be great -
Does anyone know of a good haridresser in the Kensington (particularly High St Ken) area? One that doesn't cost the earth would be appreciated! Thanks.
Holmes Place in Old Court Place (near Kensington Garden/ Habitat end). They have a pool, rather small though, about 17m. long.
We are 5 minutes away from HiStreet Ken station.
For our baby boy (4 month), we'd love to find someone willing to share their nanny in the neighbourhood. Alternatively if you are or know a childminder with vacancies and interest, please let us know. Sometime in september would be ideal.
In both cases, reach us on
Hi, sounds as though I'm not the only one whose friends are moving away, getting married ,having babies etc! Would love to meet up for iced coffees, cocktails, and shopping.
Mail me to chat and arrange to meet in Ken for a drink.
I'm also 30sh female looking for other females looking for other girls to go for cocktails with. All my friends are in couples and it's not very obvious!
Drop me a mail - I live in Kensington and having not lived in london very long I would like to meet more like minded girls for sat aft gossiping and cocktails!!
Would love the number of your cleaner please?
Are there any straight, females in Kensington who would like to make a new friend for shopping, cinema and going out etc....most of my friends have paired off and it would be nice to make some more girlie friends in the area! Look forward to hearing from you!
Our cleaner is polish and has been with us for 6 years, she also has other girls that work for her. She is very efficient and professional Let me know if you would like me to ask her for you, she works in Kensington, Earls Court and Central London.
Hello I was wondering if any one who lived in the local area could give me some info about Earls court Gardens, next to Hogarth road. My great nan was born/ lived in 14 earls court gardens. What is it like? I know nothing about it so Any info would be appreciated Thanks
Can anyone recommend a reliable, honest cleaner in Kensington please?
......then do. My wife would give her right arm to move back there . (that was before she married me and moved downmarket and has never ceased to remind me)
Frankly I am amazed to hear Stockwell and Kensington mentioned in the same breath; and i am not a snob - I am on record as posting that I want my ashes scattered over Penge.
The reason you are getting no negative comment is there is little negative to say.
My hot tip for a jewel in Kensington. Leighton House.
Relatively unknown but like stepping back a century.
I could tell you more.
My boyfriend and I are considering moving to Kensington - we were originally considering moving to Stockwell but have been put off by many negative comments on this website and also the general reviews & statistics of the area/ tube station.
I've noticed there are no negative comments about Kensington in this thread - so what is it actually like to live in Kensington - I'm currently living near the Lewisham DLR station & feel quite safe there & I'm happy to walk home by myself at night even though it's not a particularly 'nice' area! Just a case of using common sense and being a bit wary really :-)
I really like Ballans for brekkie, they have a good choice, including a full English and it is very nice...turn left out the tube and it is two minutes walk on Ken High Street.
In Kensington Church Street I recommend The Churchill Arms, Thai food there is xlnt, good atmosphere/
Another one is Sticky Fingers' Cafe: Phillimore Gardens. 200 Yards from Holland Park & Odeon Cinema.
Is there any british cafes in Kensington high street where I can get a full English or a toasted sandwich before work? If so where is it from the tube station and what is it called?
Mail me or call on 0781 011 6959 or 020 8674 8617.
Unfortunately I am just a poor 'umble plumber but i have a few colleagues who are woodworkers
