Kidbrooke Kidbrooke Park Junior School

From 1949 till 1955 I attended Kidbrooke Park Junior School in Hargood Road. When I first started school we were housed in a wooden structure at lower Dursley Road. After the brick built structure in Hargood Road was completed we had to relocate en-masse - I still recall the smell of chalk and paint.

My form teachers were Mrs Gnome, Mr Jeans and Mr Dumphy. My best pal was Bobby Smart who later had to move away because father had to change jobs. Other pals included Jim Wells, Derek Hider and Albert Gale and we all later went onto a senior school together. I would be pleased to hear from anyone from those days.

Whilst at Kidbrooke Park junior school I made the school soccer and cricket team; and prefect. When I played for the soccer team (right full-back) I was part of the squad which won the Division 3 championship. Does anyone have any results and league table from that period that they can let me have please?

Hello Chris,

I think it was Mrs Gomme you are thinking of, she had a house facing the shops on the Rochester Way.

Long time since Voryn Hall

Kidbrooke Confirmation...

The B16 route extention will begin on 19th May 2007. And just to put right any confusion, from Sainsbury's Greenwich Peninsula, the route will NOT serve Millenium Village!

Kidbrooke

Dear who ever, just to say that I live just off Dursely Road in Kidbrooke, I am renting my house. It is not a very nice area, the children around are rude and cheeky, some of them broke into the local Primary school at little while back, and actually ran through my garden with computers and other equipment. Our next door neighbour was growing weed in their house, very unsavoury! We called the Police 3 months earlier but unfortunately nothing was done about it. The language the gangs use is obscene and they shout their heads off in the street, we are too afraid to confront them because they will abuse our property, my car has been very badly scratched (not by me). So if I were you go somewhere else and good luck! My email address is  Mail-me

Kidbrooke Kidbrooke: safety

I used to live in Kidbrooke for approximately thirty years' and the dormitory suburb was safe until the Ferrier estate was built. Later in life I had a job in central London and had to use Kidbrooke Station getting to/from work. En route I was subject to verbal abuse and physical assault by local yobs who had moved onto the Ferrier Estate; and that was two of the reasons why I moved away from Kidbrooke.

A few years' ago I visited a friend who lived near you and was about 100 yards from where I lived. My friend reported that the whole ambience off Kidbrooke had gone into decline during the past three decades and that she was too scared to go out of an evening for the same reasons you mention.

The nearest station is kidbrooke station. its about a 10 min walk from the station. when u get out of the station you need to exit from the gate where the bus stop is. den u keep walkin straight on from der. You would pass homebase and Thomas tallis secondary school keep walkin down that road

Kidbrooke St John Fisher Catholic Church

St John Fisher Church is located in Kidbrooke Park Road at the junction of Kidbrooke Way where the old "Dover Patrol" pub used to be. The church is on the 286 bus route - a bus stop is only a few yards from the church entrance. Kidbrooke railway station is located approximately 800/1000 yards away and that is about an 8/10 minutes walk.

Trusting that this information is to your requirements.

Kidbrooke moving 2 kidbrooke

hi you dont say were in kidbrooke..im not black but most of the kids who visit my hse 24/7 are, they never have any probs whilst here which is why they do come here because they dont get any trouble ..im near rochester way part of kidbrooke..i would suggest you avoid down by the ferrier estate at all costs as most teenagers (not all ) but most do get caught up in the gangs down there ,anywhere else in kidbrooke is ok everyone seems to get on with everyone.good luck in your move hope this helps

i lived in kidbrooke for years but now have moved away.it depends on what part of kidbrooke you want to move to,alot of people are racist there, but then you get that in alot of area's,if you really like the house then go and see what the area is like in the evening w/ends etc,or try and chat to neighbours see what response you get

Thanks Jerome. You made me and my family feel a lot better. On Sunday gone I came down to the house that I am purchasing and saw a number of black people who all seem to be enjoying their Sunday morning stroll.

Many thanks once again Jerome.

Kidbrooke REMEMBER SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO LIVE THERE

It would be wise to think before writing comments like "Avoid down by the ferrier estate at all costs" Some people don't have the luxury of being able to choose where they live. Yes there are a minority of teenagers that hang around near the station but on the whole it is very quiet and having lived there for a number of years I have never seen any violence or trouble, I have seen more of that in far more gentrified areas.

Kidbrooke grew up in Kidbrooke

I am black grew up in Kidbrooke on the ferrier estate and lived there for 22 years. I moved out of there about 10 years ago. At the time we were the only black family there but funny enough didnt really have any problems apart from the odd skin heads who use to hang around by the shops at the time. Now the place is very multicultural and I dont think that you willhave a problem but its not the most glamourous of places.

Hi Gella
I live close to Birdbrook Road and have founf the area to be very safe, I currently live alone and work long hours, but when I have come back late at night, and in the dark I don't feel scared. The neighbours are all lovely and there is more of a community here than other places in London. I have lived here a year and no regrets about moving here!
