Kennington 326a Kennington Road

Hi

My grandparents lived at 326a kennington road from about 1948 to 1972 - Mr & Mrs Mulligan (Charlie & Pat). I remember going there often as a small child (they sold sugar mice in the sweet shop down the road and Liptons was the local supermarket.
I wonder if anyone has any photos of this house. It was quite run down when they lived there as I understand it was built in the late 1700's? I bet it looks great now. Can anyone help??  Mail-me

Kennington penton place history.

I was born in Penton place(1929),have 2 pictures of the house I was born in,one of 1930 and one of 1971 Took this one myself,This one shows all the windows boarded up ready for demolition.I have a postcard(real photo type)of part of the street, actually its a good picture of the Giraffe Pub,as it would have been in 1905.The place was derived from the Penton family who occupied the Walworth Manor house(1600s?),this was the driveway to the manor, have many maps of this area going back well before this time.I used to belong to the London Topographical Society(who have a web site)Chas in New Zealand.

I lived in Manor Place from 1932 - abt 1944 opposite Manor Place Baths. My grandfather owned the Fish and Chip Shop in Manor Place. My grandmother and aunt lived in Penton Place. I remember going to the Giraffe pub with my dad.
Can you remember the name of the Pub that was on the corner of Manor Place and Penton Place. I have a photograph of Manor place in the 70s.

I'm Australian. My grandfather William Pallett lived briefly in Penton Place about 1880. Also 86 Manor Place in 1881. This family sure did move around a lot but mostly in the Lambeth area. Any good photos would be much appreciated. Best for 2009.

Kennington doris street

Does anyone have any memories or photos of Doris Street? My dad Charlie Ford used to live at 17b then at no. 8 after Hitler decided to do a bit of demolition. Dad had 5 brothers and sisters: Jack, Bill, Eddie, Barbara and Edna. He was good mates with Bill Bovey.
I also remember Bob Whites and winkles for Sunday tea when we used to come from Leicester to visit my nan! I'm in London on the 16th june and shall be visiting Kennington - it's years since I've been there but have got only good memories of it.
If anyone can help me, email me  Mail-me

Kennington 10 Doris Street Kennington

What a surprise to see your e mail. I lived at No 10 Doris Street during the war and knew all of your Dads brothers and sisters, especially Bill Ford (who was my best friend for many years until we lost touch).I think I still have pictures of him and of Barbara and of Edna with my 2 sisters taken outside of the Prince Regent pub.I also have pictures of a "Beano" of a coach outside of the pub with a picture of Bill Fords Dad with my own Dad and many others in it. I am 76 years old now and have many happy memories of Doris St. I also have a not very good picture that was taken by the Daily Mirror during the air raids with all of us children including Bill & Barbara in it.Contact me and maybe I can scan a few photos & send them to you by e mail

Kennington The Prince Regent Ethelred St / Doris St

My father Bob Richards was the Landlord of The Prince Regent from 1941 - 1956. We moved onto another Pub in Sutton, Surrey. 'The Dolphin'. I have enjoyed reading the posts about the old days in Kennington and would love to hear any stories surrounding the Pub and those who used it. Jean Stringer: Your post has prompted me to leave this one and would love hear from you. I would especially like to hear about your cousin Pamela who was bridesmaid with me when your Dad married your Mum.
