Post or Ask something here in 'Balham' Balham Did anyone know Molly Allen????Hello, I've been on this site once before to see if anyone might know of my mother's family in the war years, her maiden name was Allen, she died when I was 15yrs, so really I didn't get much chance to know her or to hear much about her past. I know she went through the blitz as she once told me she had been bombed out, she also told me about a bomb blowing a great hole in the road where a bus fell in. her name was Molly and it would be great to find someone who may have known her or her family. If she was still alive she would be 90 yrs old this year. I know absolutely nothing about her family in Balham and now at the age of 58 I would like to know more about her instead of it being a blank.....Can anyone help?? It would be great if someone could. BalhamBalham has something for everyone. It has a lovely relaxed feel. It is has great transport links. It has some fabulous restaurants (including award-winning places) and it has some great shops. I think previous contributors must have just stood at the tube station and looked. Sample the places on Bedford Hill or opposite Du Cane Court - lovely! What about the organic food shops (As Nature Intended) and the (again) award-winning delicatessens (Trinity Stores) and the very well regarded FAT. Unlike many other London areas, it's not pretentious and that's why it's a good place to live. Stuff to do for all pockets and all ages and if you want to go into town, it only takes 15 minutes. My Dad was a brewery foreman for Hammertons in Stockwell in fact we lived across the road from the brewery. I beleive he worked there for most of his life at least 40 years. In my Dads writing in this little book I have, he's written his name HENRY CHARLES TAYLOR 51 ZENNOR RD BALHAM under his birthdate JUNE 23 1894. I think that's where my parents lived after they married.
