I initially got directed to a place called Friends of the pool, but that is in Forest Road-E17. I read an article about it in the Wanstead Guardian, that there is a pool within the Wanstead area but no one hardly knows about it. And I have not heard or seen anything since. Any ideas? Post reply -->London wanstead T-Wanstead 9 Jun ^ wanstead BLAME REDBRIDGE COUNCILYou've highlighted a very important point - in Redbridge, a Borough of 250,000 people, we only have 2 pools (Barkingside and Ilford). According to Sport England, we should have about 8 (they recommend one pool per 30,000 residents). Sadly, Redbridge Council has constantly dragged its feet or vetoed the idea whenever a new pool proposal comes along. So, rather than waste time chasing after pools that may or may not exist, or nipping over the border to use Waltham Forest's pools, lobby the Council!!! The driver didn't stop. However, you were standing outside Natwest and witnessed the event. You very kindly noted down their registration number and gave it to me. Unfortunately, I didn't get your name and address, which I now need for my police/insurance report in order to get the other driver to pay for the damage. Can you please pass it on to me? Somerfield has the slowest staff in the universe and needs a bit of competition. Londis will certainly suffer, but overall I bet more footfall comes to the high street than before, and most of the shops don't compete with Tesco - so overall, Tescos arrival is probably a good thing. I'll continue to use the butchers for meat, and the veg shop for fruit and veg. We should be glad the unit is being filled rather than left vacant - that would be much more destructive in the long run Post reply -->London wanstead Mark 29 Jan ^ wanstead TescosThe only thing Tesco will be competing with is Somerfield - It will only be an express shop and will therefore sell the same basics that they do at Somerfield, or should I say fail to sell the same things as Somerfield so you will still need to venture elsewhere if you want to buy anything more exotic than general issue cheddar or bog roll. I will continue to buy from the butcher, green grocer and Tesco/Somerfield for other items that I need in a hurry depending on who is more competitive. If I want to have anything other than baked beans on toast for dinner than I'll have to head away from the high street as I do now.
