Post or Ask something here in 'brixton' ^ brixton Brixton - Southwyck Housethey've installed a new entry sysem on the flats that has made it a lot safer now. I havent seen anything for a while now with dealers, I think theyve moved on Post reply -->London brixton 23 Oct ^ brixton YesI'd listen to this person. Murders are rife in any area of Brixton with an estate. If you're not shocked by it and you can handle living in an area where everyone stands outside watching the paramedics cart away another body or sometimes having to slice him open in the middle of the street like in Loughborough, not saying a word to the police about someone who got shot, finding bullet shells and knives in your front garden and hearing girls screaming from out your window at night, go right ahead. brixton Tottenham - Not sold out Like BrixtonI don't understand why people dont understand that Tottenham will always be what it is. It will not become like Brixton and Notting Hill where they have become shamefully gentriefied. Yes, the shops in West Green Road will always do its best to sell take-aways, supply hairdressing and sell dodgy meat. But I dont see your professional thinking that they can come here and take over. As someone born and bred, I certainly dont want the coffee chains to come crawling in, nor flowers to be sold near the station (if you want flowers go to the lovely Greek lady, Thelma's on Phillip Lane or Kings on the High Road). Tottenham/Seven Sisters/West Green Road must be allowed to evolve in its own way with nothing imposed on it!! Post reply -->London brixton A Tottenham fan forever. 4 Apr brixton Outdoor aerial and plasma fittingHi all, Does anyone know of someone reliable that could fit an outdoor aerial for my building and also fit a 26in LCD screen in my flat. Post reply -->London brixton Edward 24 Jan ^ brixtonHow do you know this? Are you a spokesman for underclass or something? The thing you have mentioned is prevalent in pretty much any part of South London (Camberwell, Peckham, Elephant, Clapham etc)....what do you propose to do about it? Post reply -->London brixton SW2 28 Jan brixton Kellett Road - opinions?I'm looking at buying a place on Kellett Road. Any feedback on what the street/area is like? Used to live on Kings Avenue, so know the area a bit, but any input anyone has would be useful. Thanks! Post reply -->London brixton MP 9 Jan ^ brixton Kellett roadHaving lived all over brixton and south london Kellett road is the best place I have ever lives. As well as the brilliant Effra pub the road is very friendly, safe and despite its locality to the station not too noisy. It's extremely convient for brixton and herne hill stations. Go for it. It'll be the best decision you ever make! Post reply -->London brixton Jenny 15 Jan ^ brixton^ brixton Kellett RdWe moved to Kelett road 2 months ago and fel klike we have been here 6 cause we love it. i used to live the other side of Brixton and this side, Kellet road is so quiet AND has the BEST pub - the Effra, love it. Honestly, I HIGHLY reccomend moving/living here! Post reply -->London brixton Pnelly 16 Feb ^ brixton Opinions on Kellett RoadHi, I moved to Kellett Road over a year ago, after renting in very swanky Abbeville Village for 6 months. I bought a flat, so was restricted to Brixton, and to be honest I was weary. How surprised I was; there is much more of a community here- my Rasta neighbours, a family of 12, all look out for me, my flat and car, and always chat to me, something the people of clapham never did. It's safe- I've honestly never felt threatened, although if you're not use to coming out of Brixton tube it can be an eye opener, but I don't think there is anywhere I'd rather live. Great bars, great restuarants, and the Effra pub is an absolute gem- you can spend a Sunday in there with the old West Indian guys, the new Brixtonites, watch footie, drink red stripe, eat curry goat and listen to jazz, then stumble home. A rough diamond. PS Im looking for a lodger if you're interested! Mail-me Post reply -->London brixton Philip Acton 20 Feb ^ brixton Change of plan.....Thanks for the positive comments. Sadly, that flat fell through on me, but have just had an offer accepted on a place in Bonham Road, the other side of Brixton Hill. Hopefully that is just as good a spot! Post reply -->London brixton MP 1 Feb ^ brixton Move to Kellett Road?Hi! I 'm thinking of buying on Kellett Road but am feeling quite apprehensive as I don't personally know anyone who lives in Brixton who can comment whether this part of Brixton is ok to live in (I currently live in Battersea and am single female). Has anyone experienced any trouble there and is there a difference as to which end of Kellett Road you live on? I was told to avoid the Atlantic Rd end. Also there seems to be a lot of property for sale there - is this a sign people want to move on because they don't like it? I have been out in Brixton and enjoy the nightlife there but I'm not moving there purely for that reason but because you can get more for your money. The fact that there is a local pub on the road (albeit a highly rated one!) does it get noisy with punters leaving the pub late at night? Can anyone comment on type of people in this neighbourhood - ie a mix/mainly professionals/family? Thanks Post reply -->London brixton M 23 Oct ^ brixtonBonham Road is in the posh part so whilst it won't retain the character that Kellet does it's probably the plushest part of Brixton. Some nice Houses round that way with Sudbourne being near it. Post reply -->London brixton 24 Mar ^ brixton Move to Kellett RoadHey Miss, In response to your Kellet Road Ad, I'd say move further up the hill to Leander, Helix and around there. I rent around there and the vibe is Brixton but safer, quieter. It's nice.... Peace Post reply -->London brixton Nicholas Smith 13 Jul brixton Brixton Reggae SundayHi, can anyone suggest any good place to listen some reggae on a sunday night? i don't live in london but i visit often..thanks!! Post reply -->London brixton Giulia 8 Jan ^ brixtonHi, There's a good reggae night at Steffanys Club, 262 Old Kent Road near Elephant & Castle, South London on Sundays. I think it's called "Groove & Lovers Rock". Can't remember the times, maybe 9 till 3 or something like that. Cheers Curtis Post reply -->London brixton Curtis 18 Jan ^ brixton catch a fire - reggae at the ritzyhey, check the ritzy cafe listings - first sunday of the month is Zinc Fence's reggae dj set with a different live reggae act each time... Post reply -->London brixton ed 21 Aug brixton Brixton/Camberwell/ Myatts FieldsI am female and have lived in Brixton for the past four years. I thought that I would write my opinion on the area. Brixton is a very lively, music oriented area. Brixton would not suit everybody- it suits the open minded and people who are into music- the live music venues are superb- JAMM, Windmill and of course the Brixton Academy. The Lambeth Country Fair is fantastic in the summer. It is fairly safe to walk around at night- there is some hassle from people asking for money and for women there is a certain amount of hassle with men shouting at women in the street- which is sometimes annoying. As a general rule I woudn't say that Brixton is any more dangerous than many areas in London. It still has a very bad name from the days of the Brixton riots, but it is about time that people saw Brixton for what it really is- a melting pot of people from different backgrounds and races and a place that should be celebrated for its multi-culturalism.
