If you go down the common towards Chingford hatch and turn into the forest ,there is a hidden house it looks very old and interesting. It doesn't look too hot on the outside but has fantastic classes and really good equipment in the gym. Its recently been refurbished and there is now a beauty salon on site as well. Im a teacher and get a rate of £28 per month. Not too sure what the rate is if your not a teacher but i do know that they are always running offers for people who want to join. I just spoke to her - she is 80 now so I guess somewhat older than yourself. She said she remembers your family well and was friends with I suspect your older sister - she recalls you came from a big family and had one brother called Billy who she thinks is no longer with us. Billy was friendly with a boy called Robert Beard. She remembers that there were always kids having great fun with various activities in the front garden but when you all grew up it was very well manicured. She remembers that your parents made a staircarpet themselves - quite an achievement hey - hope you are feeling nastalgic. Daphne my mother was extremely happy in Highfield Road - she married whilst there and had my sister Deirdre in 1950 and moved with her parents to Epping.
