Good restaurants, nice pubs, Grovelands Park easy commute into central London on BR - and a friendly Greek community make it a good place to bring up a family but not be totally bored. Would advice buying somewhere West of Green Lanes, East is cheaper but not as nice ( although still ok in parts). Good luck. My memories of Winchmore Hill go back to the 70s when there was a newsagent called "Marlowes" on the Green and a little supermarket called "Butterys" (later "Oakshotts").
