West Norwood Moving to the area  

Myself and my wife are looking to move to Tritton Road which appears to be on the border of West Dulwich and West Norwood (although we're not overly familiar with the area).

Do people regard the area as safe and would it be considered a desirable area to start a family? Specifically, is the walk to West Norwood station fairly busy and well lit in the winter (only done the walk once, during the day).

West Norwood Tritton Road - well done!  

James,

Congratulations on your move to Tritton Road. I live a little further south (Rommany Road) but often walk and cycle through Tritton Road. A nice road with great family homes.

I have found your road and surrounding roads to be safe. There are normally a fair number of people passing through, and plenty of young families. Your nicest route back from the station will be to head down the high street, turn right onto Robson Road (just before the Tesco), right again on to Martell Road and then left onto Tritton Road.

Head for Park Hall Road/Croxted Road for some nice boutiquey shops, and I can highly recommend the Rosendale pub on Rosendale Road.

West Norwood Living in Norwood Park Road  

We have lived happily in Norwood Park Road for 4 years with a 7yr old and a 6-month old. our house backs onto the park which is fantastic in the summer, and has a good playground. We have seen the odd police car on the road over the years, but nothing more than expected. Some cars seem to race up/down the hill, but this has drastically reduced since they blocked the cut-through road from Gipsy Rd. Welcome to the area and hope to see you here soon.

West Norwood WARNING - AVOID THIS TRADESMAN  

Sorry, I know you shouldn't post complaints, but if you can praise a tradesman, why not be able to do the opposite and save people grief. I hope you will accept this.
Avoid FEDERATION PROPERTY MAINTENANCE - a south London based individual who recently advertised in the Croydon Advertiser. He did some work for me and I wish he hadn't. Won't go into it on here, but believe me, avoid him.

West Norwood Durban Road  

Don't know the area well at all and just wondered how safe it was walking to and from this road to the station at night and whether there were good places to go out and drink/eat in the area?

any info greatly appreciated x

West Norwood I love Durban road :-)  

I live on this road - have been here almost 2 years and i love it. The 322 bus stops right at the bottom of the road, which i sometimes get if it's late. I've met several of the neighbours, and they're all really friendly. Overall, a really friendly, lovely road.

As it is so close to Dulwich, we go to the rosendale pub :-)

West Norwood Durban Road  

Durban Road is a nice road - one of the smartest in the area. It's only 7 or 8 minutes' walk from the station, along well-lit roads. My fiancee and I walk this way (up Auckland Hill, though then down St Cloud Road), and do not feel intimidated. Often several other train passengers coming that way too.

The Rosendale is a great pub/restaurant - upmarket but with reasonable prices. In Durban Road you will be a 10 minute walk from The Mansion, towards Gipsy Hill. This is a cracking pub, which also does good food - though sadly the current landlords are about to move to Penge.

West Norwood POSSIBLY MOVING TO WEST NORWOOD  

May be moving into the area just of Linton Grove soon. Wondered about the nearest recommended GP practise or large surgery and dental practise and if anyone can recommend which is good to me.
