Very nice parks too, Lammas and Walpole parks. The Plough down past Northfields tube is very nice as well. Its cocktails are a treat for the tastebuds...everyone in Ealing should try something from its menu at least once in their life. If A-list celebs drank in Ealing they would do it here! Post reply -->London West Ealing Flash ^ West Ealing Early evening eats in Ealing^ West Ealing baroque, west ealingI went to Baroque this weekend after reading the review on this site - I have to say I was pleasantly suprised, we went on Sunday afternoon, sat in the very pretty garden and had Sunday brunch. The food was good and VFM (value for money) each meal was just a fiver. The exterior of the bar isn't very exciting but I would recommend you overlook that and venture inside! We were just about to leave and the live jazz started it was fab, the guys played on the roof over looking the garden - what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I was really looking forward to the Christmas do, but turned up to find the regular dj had been dropped in favour of somebody who was playing off a laptop. I say playing, becasue he certainly wasn't mixing. I asked if this was a new resident and heard that it was - well this is a big thumbs-down - seems like Baroque's intent on coming down to the standard of all the other bars in the area. (The food's great though!) The restaurant had been booked prior to our arrival. There was only one waitress for the entire restaurant and service was horrendously slow from the very start. Making any order was difficult. We waited for 90 minutes for our starters and the meals all arrived at different times. There was a strong smell of sewage in the restaurant and towards the end of the evening; several people in the group could smell gas. We would certainly not recommend this restaurant, nor will we ever be going back. The service was awful and the food terrible – even with the 30% discount the waitress gave, we should not have been asked for payment at all. They should have paid us to eat there! We left the restaurant extremely disappointed and still hungry. Anyway, there's a decent Waitrose right next to West Ealing station and there's also a large-ish Sainsburys on Uxbridge Road, near the Blockbuster and opposite the library.
