The staff are so unhelpful, unknowledgeable, they serve people while you are still packing your shopping, the queues are always huge... I could go on. I find them very rude, never say hello or acknowledge im there, often just carry on the coversation they are having whilst serving you. Also when the queue is long there are still lots of staff stacking shelfs instead of opening tills..... Grrrr. The 1st meeting will have to be on the 2nd Monday of October, the 12th (because I have a previous commitment on the 1st Monday.) The first meeting is just for a bit of "getting to know each other" plus we'll be choosing the books for the first few months. The venue is minutes from the South Woodford underground station. We'll be reading books at least 50 years old - after all the best endure, and sometimes it's interesting to read a book a bit different from what's on the bestsellers list. BTW this is in no way intending to be intellectual or elitist. The idea is to meet on the 1st Sunday morning of every month at 11 for chat about the book and life the universe and everything over a coffee/ drink/ brunch/ whatever. I have a regular venue in mind (near tube, roomy, cheapish, hopefully not noisy.) It looks like a fab place to live and I really hope I find somewhere nice. Question is, are there any parts of Wanstead/S.Woodford that aren't such great areas? I'm sorry to ask but the central London places I've looked at all have so-called 'rough' areas, though it seems partly perception rather than reality, beyond keeping your wits about you (plus, Wanstead/S.Woodford looks lovely and friendly).
