Walworth Accident Boyson Road, 1960 !

Hi all, I've only just found this site and wonder if any of you can help me. I lived in Boyson Road when I was a very small child and I was run over in May 1960, just before my third birthday, the only information I have is that I was run over by a Pickfords Lorry, because, back then, Boyson Road, wasn't a little tiny road it ran directly through to the Old Kent Rd from the Walworth Rd and was very busy, I wasn't the only child run over back then, and then eventually I believe they made it a one way road. If you have any info about that accident, I'd be very pleased to hear from you. I've been reading all of the posts, I'm 56 now, and have found this really interesting, conjours up lots of memories !  Mail-me

Walworth Anns Buildings, Walworth

Is there anyone who remembers Ann's Buildings near East Street or 'The Lane' as it was known, in Walworth. I saw the street just before it was demolished to make way for flats in the late 1950's. My dad and his family. the Ramseys, all lived there in the early part of the 20th century.

Walworth The crypt

My memories of Walworth are the Crypt and father Paul on a Saturday night at St Peters church. Mr Dibbings running the length of the staff room to cane me at St Peters school with mr Court standing nearby. The Lizzie on a Sunday and my grandad Nobby buying us a shandy. Pulling a barrow for George and Tony down East street market on their fruit and salad stall. Jumping on the coal bunkers at the back of where we lived at Worth Grove shouting big Danny woof woof. A drink down the Annie on a saturday night before a trip down the old kent road. Finally pie and mash down Westmoreland road, lovely.  Mail-me

Walworth St Peters

I went to St Peters, from 51 to 56, I remember a Mr Hasty (top class) and Mr Hardingham, the headmaster. Miss Macdonald taught the entry class and we used mini blackboards. At the Church was Father Oakes, and it cost a threepenny bit to go to Sunday School.
What years were you at St Peters?

I went to St Peters from about 1947. I remeber the same teachers. Did Mr Hastie still throw the blackboard rubber and still have the box with the ends of chalk that he also used to aim at us?

Walworth EAST LANE

My grandparents were FRed and Hannah Lloyd who sold fruit in East Lane. My grandfathers sisters married name was Furze who sold green grocery. Some of the traders I remember are Johnnie Rose, Hugman fishmonger, Mothersole, Charlesworth, Lenny Lock, the sarsaparilla man, Rossi ice cream, Marie's cafe, Foxes curtains. My sister and I still go for pie and mash sometimes in Westmoreland Road or Manzes in Peckham or Tower Bridge Road.
