Post or Ask something here in 'Tulse Hill' ^ Tulse HillI've lived on the Tulse Hill Estate for a couple of years, and I was a bit worried about moving here, as it looked rough - but I went ahead and bought a flat and since then it's been great. My neighbours are friendly and quiet, and I've only seen one car broken into on my bit of the estate since I moved in. I feel perfectly safe, as does my girlfriend. A good friend of ours lives on her own on the estate too and she's never felt threatened at all. I know it can look iffy round here, but it's fine... A great junior football team. Local amenities for every need and a great mix of people. Plenty of history in the surrounding neighbourhood and all the must haves such as Dentists, Drs, Hospitals, Shops, Schools that you could imagine. ^ Tulse Hill Tulse Hill as a place to liveSarah, depends on where you move to. East Dulwich end near the station is very nice, as is basically Dulwich without the property prices. Living on Tulse Hill itself could be a bit dodgy due to the massive council estates - although there are some new gated developments on the other side of the road that seem nice (bit soulless for me!). Some nice roads off the A205, near the station. Roads near the park like Deronda Road and Trinity rise are very nice, with great Victorian properties - nearly bought one! Brockwell park itself is gorgeous. Surprisingly good local amenities near the station, excellent bus links and train connections). Haven't lived here long, but it feels less threatening than my old place near Clapham Common (I live W.Dulwich end of Tulse Hill). Do what I did - spend a day at the weekend walking around the place, riding on the buses, asking strangers in the street questions about the area, before you start making offers on houses. I found people very friendly an Post reply -->London Tulse Hill buy rent propertyResh 21 Oct Should we remove this post ? ^ Tulse Hill As a place to live: in ...West Norwood (a few bus stops from Tulse Hill) there is the South London Theatre, an "am dram" members theatre club, which you can join either as an audience member or became more involved straightaway and appear in productions helping out in the multitude of things that happen backstage to put on productions: sound/lighting design and/or operation, set design/ build, painting etc and there is the bar, which is a great social hub. There is currently a pantomime on 5-14 January - which is great! only a few tickets left, so hurry and book tickets online. Google search on South London Theatre for website. Tulse Hill Horse trough in Palace Road/Leigham ValeWhat happened to the horse trough in Palace Road at the junction with Norwood Road Post reply -->London Tulse Hill horse trough Should we remove this post ? ^ Tulse HillI've been thinking about that myself, I reckon it was worth nicking for sure, antique no doubt one day Post reply -->London Tulse Hill horse trough Should we remove this post ? ^ Tulse Hill Horse trough in Leigham ValeI wondered that as well. I phoned the council and they reckined it had been stolen, as a lot of street and park furniture is. I gather this type of 'architectural' salvage fetches a good price. It's ironic that nobody bothered with it when it was filled with carrier bags of rubbish, but as soon as it was planted out with flowers it disappeared. What really annoys me is that so many people seem to come to Leigham Vale to dump horrible stuff on the railway embankment, that it adds insult to injury when people also come and take away the nice stuff that is meant to be there. I had a friend just down the road in Tulse Hill that I lost contact with years ago. I figure if you remember the horse trough you might know someone who can trace my friend Lorna Taylor, she had a brother Robert. I still go back to walk in Brockwell Park whenever I am back in the country. The guys who own it are friendly and have created a very convivial environment. The beer garden at the back is huge and pretty stylish. they have and outdoor barbie and cocktail bar during the summer. It tends to be lively during the week (more so if they're playing SKY sport) and louder at the weekend. Post reply -->London Tulse Hill Should we remove this post ? ^ Tulse Hill railwayI agree. I challenge anyone to disagree! Post reply -->London Tulse Hill Should we remove this post ? ^ Tulse Hill^ Tulse HillWhite Hart great if you're 80, like having your own tarnished tankard hung up behind the bar, and want most of the guests at your funeral to be your pub's regulars. Its got a nice friencly atmosphere and the food is fairly reliable. There's only one restuarant in TH (Bar 196) - its usually empty so I've never been. Otherwise the best bar in TH itself, the Railway, now does food - I've only tried the Sunday roast but it was lovely. Otherwise go to Herne Hill where Cafe Provencial and Three Monkeys are both great, or Brixton which has loads of good eateries.
