Tulse Hill Just Moved IN

Me and My housemate have just moved in to a property on Perran Rd, just oppositwe the station. Wandering if anyone had any ideas about good pubs and bars in the area which they could recommend?

Tulse Hill Pubs...

Not a great deal to choose from - the Railway next to the station is pretty good but annoyingly don't take cards. Decent food and a great beer garden/patio though that's not such a big deal at this time of year.

The White Hart on the corner of Station Rise frankly looks terrifying and have never been inside. The posters on the outside saying 'reclaim your pub from drug dealers' are not a terrific sign.

There's the Tulse Hill Tavern as well - don't know much about it.

Lancasters bar on the corner of Lancaster Avenue with Norwood road does great burgers for a reasonable price.

Apart from that not much going on...

The Railway does take cards now - at least that's what the sign on the door says!

Tulse Hill Leigham Vale

We are thinking about buying a house in the row of houses nearest to the bottom of Leigham Vale(near TH station). We have two children and even though the house is lovely we are worried about the area after reading all the listings. Good buy or not??

Tulse Hill depends on the price...

it's not the nicest area but that's factored into the price...
it is not unsafe if that's what you're worried about - only incident i have seen in the area was at midnight on a night bus which could have been anywhere.

overall an up and coming area. in general i think the dulwich side of TH station is a little nicer.

Tulse Hill

i agree. have been in TH now for 3 years and it's lively but i haven't witnessed any crime. it's close enough to dulwich for something to do at the weekends and hopefully local amenities will improve. there are already some great niche shops on the high st and hillside gardens is fab. there has been a lot of improvement over the last year, so it can only get better!

but that's probably nonsense otherwise they would have plastered the fact all over it...
not sure why a big supermarket would move in given the competition...

i wouldn't say the supermarkets we have would be any competition for a sainsburys or tesco (or, if there is a god, waitrose). and there were rumours of tesco taking over the b&q site, which fizzled out. we need some catalyst to bring tulse hill up.

Might be worth pointing out estate agents are not exactly renowned for giving reliable information...

If tesco or any other chain like that were signed up it would be plastered all over the site frontage...

Tulse Hill Anything for the older genration?

My mum is her in her 80s and lives on her own in Tulse Hill. Has got all her marbles but is socially isolated - friends and family dying like flies. I'm not sure she's the day centre type.
Anyone know any activities that might interest an older person?

Why not find a volunteer agency with other elderly people? Maybe there is someone who could meet up with your mum for tea in the same stage of life?

Tulse Hill Thinking of moving to Leigham Vale

I'm thinking about moving into a flat in Leigham Vale and wondered what the street was like in terms of saftety. I would always get a cab late at night in any case, but wondered what the walk was like from Tulse Hill station in general.

Hi - having similar problem myself re french doors! If you have any luck would be interested in hearing. All I have managed to figure out is that its next to impossible to find someone willing and who doesnt end up charging 1000 - which is odd since the doors would retail at 200 odd and fitting cant be more than a few hours. Any info would be welcome

Tulse Hill Tulse Hill

We have recently moved to Lanercost Rd and just love the area, so if your thinking about moving here - go ahead: large houses, wide tree lined streets, some lovely views and even though you have the south circular nearby the air just seems better. For green space you have Brockwell Park, Hillside Gardens, Norwood cemetary & Dulwich Park, for nightlife there is the Railway in Tusle Hill and bars of Brixton, Herne Hill, Clapham & East Dulwich wich are all 5 minutes away. We found a great doctor in Deerbrook Road and can buy fresh organic food and seafood in Norwood High Street. On the bad side: I havent found a good primary school yet - so welcome any suggestions? And the high street is basically just a junction for the south circular but that isnt a true reflection of the people who live here. Oh and by the way - I read that they are building shops and accomodation at the new development on Norwood High Street but the lack of advertising the fact means that it can only be ugly.
