Streatham At Last A Decent Estate Agent !

Yes I mean it! I too am one of the 'Foxtons Haters' having had a dreadful experience with them last year however after licking our wounds we started the painful search to buy a flat in either Streatham Hill or Balham. Trawling through the seeming ever growing number of agents we stumbled (almost by chance) upon a small independant called Harrington & Sons on Balham High Road). They took the time to actualy listen to us, showed us a couple of properties and hey presto one lovely flat in Balham was ours. They even gave us a bottle of Champagne with the keys. Seriously though,
Nick & Damian went out of their way to find us this lovely flat and make us feel special. Good work boys, keep it up!

OTHER AGENTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE

Streatham Streatham Megabowl.

Does anyone know what's to become of Megabowl, I've heard a couple of rumours, one that its going to be taken over by another leisure company and remain as a bowling alley and the other was that its going to be bought by Walmart along with Ceasers nightclub and be made into an Asda supermarket.
Anyone know if any of these are true.

Streatham Streatham Megabowl

Last word i heard was that there will be a bowling alley of sometype in the area. That said, there was also mention of the old idea of turning it into shops and apartments. I hope that future owners give it the love it needs. As it was sorely lacking this from the previous company.

Streatham I used Rosewood Preservation

I recently fixed a damp problem in one of the rooms in my house in Streatham and these guys did a very good job - It was several months ago now and it all seems to be fixed :)

They aren't based in Streatham but that didn't seem to be a problem for them.

Streatham Tuesday nights are great

Hi, I have been to the Kensway Club at the Starlight Studio at Streatham for the last few months and it is great. It is a bit crowded and there are lots of new people turning up all the time. The teaching is great and there is a good vibe. Plenty of people to dance with, rotation of partners and a great age group from people in their late teens up.

Thanks for the info. Two questions firstly, Is it mainly couples who go or do you get individuals on their own? I'm having trouble in persuading hubby to try it. Secondly I'm in my mid 50's would I be out of place age wise?
Thanks

Streatham Flooded cellar this week in SW16

Hi all, this was a really useful link as I woke up yesterday to find 2 inches of water in my cellar. It's unusual as I've lived here for two years without any water through heavy rain. This week has been pretty dry and I get flooded so assuming this has nothing to do with rain water (but the natural springs mentioned in this link?).

Anyone that has sprung a leak this week, please let me know so I have some comfort it's not a thames water leak or something more sinister!

Does anyone know if having a pool in the cellar will damage the building foundations, or cause rising damp?

All advice appreciated.

Daniel

Streatham Water Pool under Floor

I posted before about this issue - I have an inch of water under some parts of my ground floor flat and am still unsure if it is to do with water table or rain water run off. A neighbour has installed a sump and pumps out the water once in a while, i am about to do something similar. You can contact and pay to see plans of Thames Water pipes to see if one is near your house and could be a cause of water due to cracks. The foundations of a building are under the ground anyway so are inherently wet, there should be a damp proof course (eg.slate tiles) that stop the damp from moving further up the walls. Having loads of water there is obviously not good as the water evaporates and the generally rises into the house. I live off valley road and as the name suggests am probably going to have a high water table. I am still working on it and will see how it changes over the course of the year.

Streatham Difficulty parking on ABC roads

Are you having problems finding parking spots on the Stretham Hill end. I live on one of the ABC roads and have to wait hours to park my car, this is very frustrating.I know we want to support the local businessess but we live there, surely we should have first choice.
If we had parking permits-like most of Lambeth, it would cost 19p a day.Would you support this? If so please tell me
thank you
