Post or Ask something here in 'Stockwell' Stockwell Stockwell not sureHello all, I'm also a female and just about to decide whether to take a studio in Stockwell as well but my main concern is whether its a safe place to live or not. As per the Metropolitan police site this are is quite alright compared to others near Central London, Paddington curiosly enough seems to be one of the worse areas...anyway I have to decide asap if I should have the studio or not and was looking for more information on how this area is like regarding safety...I know its London...but I'd like to know whether I'd be safe if I have to stay working late and come back home alone after...can anyone help? I visit there on a regular occasion and everyone is always very friendly, like anywhere there are a few frightening faces! Like anywhere there are some rough pubs, and a few dodgy looking streets, but not everything and everywhere is shabby. I agree there isnt a whole lot to do, but when the tube station is on your doorstep does there really need to be? It has all amenities, and nothing is too far away. Not everyone, and everything is down and out here. PLEASE dont let people lead you to believe this. The 24 hour Cost Cutter supermarket next to the tube is well stocked with fresh fruit, vegetables and French bread. Cafe Nile is one of Stockwell’s best kept Moroccan secrets that randomly do amazing Greek Salads! The area has experienced huge progress since I have lived here. Long live Stockwell- may you find the area as convenient and fun as I have. I don't think it has a net presence, which is probably why you can always use all of the equipment there, including a Power-Plate, at no extra cost! Best to pop round and see the place, the staff are friendly and helpful. Best gym/pool for miles.
