Post or Ask something here in 'Shepherds Bush' ^ Shepherds Bush Ellerslie RdTo start with you'll probably have to pay a residence parking fee for your car ( a hundred and something pound a year ) although this doesn't guarantee that you will get a parking space. The only other option is to pay £1.40 an hour to park in your own street, between the hours of 9-5 week days ( which visitors to your home will have to pay regardless ) There's a very high record of car break-ins in this area ( anything left in your car over night will not be there in the morning - ( if you're lucky enough to still have the car in the morning ) When there is a football match on - forget it ! - the roads get blocked solid ( sometimes they double park ) so you'll have to park in another street ( if you can find a spot ) I don't want to put you off, I'm just telling you the facts as I live very close to this area. I childminded a family backing on to the ground for 3 years, and they never had any trouble either. some golden rules to observe..... 1, leave car in space on matchdays(although zone j has many roads to park in) 2, dont open the door on halloween" trick or treat" go for a drink after work instead 3, It can be noisy as the pubs empty out so have some earplugs! 4, remember to lock doors and dont show valuables. Lived here for 12 years and no probs i've heard off! Dont put rubbish out before the right day as the foxes open them up! I have never felt unsafe dropping her off or picking her up, and have never heard of a mugging or other incident involving a parent or child. It is only the White City, not the Bronx! I lived in New York 2 yrs ago and the Bronx has been cleaned up a lot, specially since Bill Clinton set up his office there. Now I live near Uxbridge Road and it is scary to walk down the side roads at night because of the White City estate hoodlums going around in their bikes terrorising people, don't even want to imagine what it must be like living at the very middle of it!!! Post reply -->London Shepherds Bush sam ^ Shepherds Bush Assuming they get the traffic rightI saw an architect's impression of a huge glass dome in the Evening Standard a while back stretching north and west from the corner of the roundabout. There might be a few articles in their archives about the development. One of the key issues has been the likely traffic impact. Holland Road and the roundabout are already very busy, and things may get much worse if people are travelling in to shop. On the upside, I heard that they are planning to open a new station for the line that goes down towards Olympia, West Brompton and Clapham Junction at Shepherd's Bush. It may or may not link up to the central line. I know that there were also plans to open a station at the new Chelsea Harbour development on the same line. It may be that if these stations do open, they will introduce a more frequent service on this line which would be useful.
