Someone told me St. Lukes Church is gone and so has North Hammersmith Girls School. How about the school on Askew Road. I was there during the war and my children are putting a albulm together of my childhood and some things are lost. Love to hear any news of Shepherds Bush. I moved to surrey 37 years ago so i dont know if its still there i think it is. I remember a shop in Askew Road that was called the penny shop i used to do my christmas shopping there in the late 50s when i was about 13.  | ^ Shepherds BushI went to Victoria Junior School between 1972-1976 and both my parents who were born in the 40s went there too, as did my big brother. I think that sometime in the 90s the school was converted into flats (very lovely they are too!) I couldn't believe it when i saw them on a nostalgic visit to see my old 'school'. The area is very much the same as it ever was. I was born on Findon Road and nothing has changed much - except the property prices! I remember an elderly teacher called Mr Schweitzer who may well have been at Victoria when you went there! Love it and its under budget...how often does that happen?? Problem is, when i was walking just 5 min from the tube to the flat, expecting cafes and nice shops, i saw kebab shops and a very busy pub (saturday at 2...is that usual?) just 4 doors down from the flat. Should I be worried or are they all just 'merry'? The area is reasonably safe, just take normal precautions. Personally I prefer the area south of Uxbridge Road but I don't think you will have any particular problems. It is a good area to live. Good transport to everywhere and the area is slowly moving up market. Post reply -->London Shepherds Bush Jerico 24 Oct ^ Shepherds BushHi, I have lived in Shepherds Bush all my life, actually the road next to adelaide, willow vale...the adelaide pub is always quite busy but i wouldnt recommend it, mainly older drunk men, but mind you, never trouble. I have noticed a new hostel not far fromthat pub, just be a bit careful late at night, i havent experienced any trouble but just keep on guard!
