New Cross New Cross is OK

I moved into the area in 1986. I attended a couple of evening courses at Goldsmiths to get to know people in the area. I now know many artists and performers who have eithered studied here or love the area because of the incredible 'vibe' it maintains. Adjoining areas of Deptford and Brockley share this strong artistic strain. And, whilst I would never claim this is the prettiest area in London, it has so much more if you live here and its close to the finest areas that London can boast - Greenwich park (and surrounding landmarks); Blackheath and a stone's throw from the City and Docklands. I will never regret moving here, its really ok!

New Cross I probably ran past you - new mates needed!

hey to my shame I've hardly ever gone out in New Cross. I've been here 2 yrs and I'd damn well like to. I walk past the bars on my way to the chippy and think it'd be nice to have some mates local. I'm Dave, 28, smiley, energetic, runner, never sit still, work in internet marketing. I'm a do-er not a talker. I'm quirky. I knit and sing and stuff. But have got no New X mates. Invite me in I'm lovely!  Mail-me

New Cross Diverse and cheap area, great locals and nights out

I love the mix in New Cross - so many different types of people here, smaller funky shops and great music nights. I didn't realise I'd be so close to so many good markets - Greenwich, Lewisham, and Deptford. There's loads of green spaces too including the huge Blackheath, and I've got free tennis courts at the end of my road - when I loved in WC1 I had to pay £9 and hour

New Cross Free tennis courts?

That sounds good, are they available to anyone living in the area? How would I go about getting access/finding them?

Yes, it is great for markets and green space - don't forget the lovely peckham rye and areas in Nunhead. Also, up the hill from New Cross Gate there are stunning views across london.

New Cross New Cross Free Tennis Courts

Don't know if these are the ones he's talking about but the tennis courts in the relatively recently restored Telegraph Hill Park (upper park to the South of Kitto Road) are free. (Multimap SE14 5TY - the post code of the nearby Community Centre.) There are only two so at popular times you have to wait but there's a polite notice asking players not to play for too long if there are people waiting and you have the wonderful view to look at to fill in the time - the City, Hampstead Heath and even the Wembley Arch can all be seen.

New Cross Info on gyms in the New Cross area

There's a gym on the Old Kent Road a bit further up from the Tesco (if you are coming from New Cross on the opposite side), I think it's called Miami? But if you drive or don't mind travelling a short distance to Greenwich there is a gym called the Arches on Trafalgar Road, it's part of Greenwich Leisure and membership allows you to go to a number of gyms in the Borough of Greenwich, I'm a member myself. Good Luck!

New Cross Its all good in New Cross

Hey there! Just wanna say hi and that New Cross is fine. I am just about to move down on Friday. I am gay and will be sharing with 2 other gay guys. Its a normal area of London really, not posh and not too rough. Easy access with night buses to go out in town, 2 tube and rail stations near by and lots of buses. Good local amenities too and generally a pleasant place. After you have lived in Whitechapel, Poplar then Sunderland, New Cross is definitely at least 10 steps up!! I know my flatmates can be themselves in the area without thinking of the repurcussions (cant spell!) and it has a good mix of different ethnic backgrounds I think. My email is  Mail-me  if you wanna contact me at any point ok?

New Cross New Cross Gate is all that

I am a guy male living in New Cross Gate. There are hundreds of other gay guys living in this area. So far (3 years) I have found it to be a safe and tolerant area with fantastic transport links to the West End
