When I was about 15 (1956) My family used to visit my relations on my mothers side who lived in the flats at York Way Court, their name was Fairbairn. The two sons were Jim and Fred. At Christmas the Fairbairns took over the back room in the Havelock (Havelock St) and have a real knees up. A man known as "wiggy" used to play the piano. On Sundays after a lunchtime pint, we would take home winkles, prawns, cockles and whelks for tea. I have lived in South Africa for the last 25 years but on a trip 5 years ago I drove to Kings Cross only to find that the pub and houses no longer exist in Havelock St and have been replaced by new houses. York Way Court which used to be kept clean and tidy looked very shabby. You're joking. But plenty of buses and it is on a north/south - east/west cross-over. Go into the tfl website and plug in both post-codes and see what is on offer. (PS Actually, if it is the Court you are after, don't be misled by the post-code. I made that mistake. Duly followed the directions to the Royal Mail Sorting Office and by the time I had back-tracked and asked directions were were late rather than being nicely on time!)
