Island Gardens Broadband help!  

I'm living at Caledonian Wharf, just off the Manchester road, by island gardens. i can't get broadband access as the line is too far from the exchange. Does anyone have broadband in my area? does anyone know how i can get broadband (apart from moving!)

Island Gardens Broadband too far from exchange  

You have a couple of options 1) Approach NTL / Telewest about cable broadband (it doesn't work in the same way as BT's so different restrictions apply) or consider one of the mobile phone operator's packages that don't run through wires atall. You have to use a laptop though, but then you remainn connected anywhere you go, whichis quite useful. A colleague at work just got the cheapest deal out at about £20 per month which I THINK was T-Mobile but I'll have to check. I don't think you have to move, there'll be a way round this problem.

Island Gardens How safe is Island Gardens?  

Looking to move to Island Gardens, but wandered how safe people feel there, especially late at night. In particular, is it ok walking back under the Greenwich foot tunnel in the small hours? I know they have CCTV but it doesn't deter all crazies... also, have many people been burgled here? Thanks very much!

Island Gardens  

In general Island Gardens itself is an extremely pleasant and safe area... Having said that, I certainly wouldn't recommend walking alone through the Greenwich Tunnel after 7pm; - one of my (female) mates was mugged there and had her phone and purse nicked, and a guy indecently exposed himself to one of my male friends. It is also quite a yuppie area. Despite this, it is very pleasant in that it is very clean and well- kept and is nice to escape to when you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the City.

Island Gardens Supermarkets in the area  

Tescos is based at Canary Wharf - it's a metro and is brill. CW is 5 tube stops away I think - not far. Then two stops away from Island Gardens is Asda - not too bad. Then a walk away in Greenwich (cutty Sark - one tube stop) is a Simply Food Marks & Spencer

Island Gardens NOt bad  

The DLR at peak times is busy but no way as busy as the tubes, as nobody seems to move down inside the cars, so if you shout people will move down and you will get some space!!!!!!!!!! Nah it's not bad at all
