Hackney is a dangerous area. I have lived here for quite a few years and know of lots of people who have been mugged etc. I cant afford to move out or you wouldnt see me for dust. Unfortunately, I can also see the benefits Hackney has such as fantastic transport links to the City with its employment potential which is a plus with teenage children about to enter the employment market. Hackney at night is no more dangerous than Hackney by day. If they are going to mug or attack you they dont seem to care what time of day it is. Only the other day four people including two school children from the local secondary school in Homerton were threatened at knife point by a man before having their belongings taken from them and this was around 3.30 in the afternoon.
