Harlesden

i think a mobile shop is a brilliant idea-my nan used to live in leadbetter court in stonebrige and this would have been a great idea- i could do with something like that here in very rural devon where everything shuts at 7pm in our village and i live on a huge steep hill!

I am concerned about the increase of anti social loitering outside the royal oak, gangs of youths, lack of policing at nighttime and the rubbish smell.
All i would like to say is, if you want to increase crime, cutback on policing at night, its simple, this town is a ticking time bomb and no1 seems to want to listen.
There are business for black Arab and Brazilians, where is the business for English residence? Where are the shops? i have seen more and more wig shops opening?? How many does one town need of this and betting shops. Also, run down cheap rubbish food take aways, no wonder Brent has the worst rate in health problems and rodents.
I am going all the way to make and keep making my point.

Harlesden Lacey Family

Hi - am trying to trace some of my mother's family who originated in Harlesden. Ida & Charles Lacey were their parents. Children, Ronald, Peter, Derek, Elsie, Patricia, Edward and Lynn (not in that order).
Was particularly looking for my cousins - Terri and Steve Lacey and Julie Lacey.
Time to let bygones be bygones

I was born in harlesden in1947 and can remember only good times there were 3 cinemas the picardy coloseum, and the odeon in craven park.Opposite the last named was Hiltons fish bar also known as the bulldog cos the animal used to plonk his mouth on the counter and dribble, the owners were anne and joe great people.Further down was crusoes fish shop up market if you could call it that. The upper class chinese restaurant was the blue orchid on 2 floors,or the kow loon if you were a bit skint.Pubs included jim boyles royal oak,the elm tree and the greenman. The fruit and veg barrow boys included BISTO outside the manor cafe where you could get a steak and kidney pudd dinner with 3 veg for 2/6d (12p)harry in wendover rd.The music shop for records was craven blue in craven park and if you wanted a cheap pair of shoes you went to factory footwear. Then there was LAKES to buy the latest jokes and stink bombs oh what memories.I still live inHarlesden and have seen a million changes but still love

Harlesden Harlesden horse meat shop

The horse meat shop was in a shop almost in line with the corner of Crownhill Road T junction. Near the undertakers. The was a back entrance from an alley that lead to the Express Dairies milk depot. It was closed down in the early 1960's.

Yes I recall RIXONS butchers in the High Street and can recall that it was a busy shop with plenty of staff to keep the customers moving along. My mother was a loyal CO-OP member but was converted to RIXONS over a period of time.

Harlesden HARGRAVE, new information to my earlier posting

FREDERICK LAWTON LEOPOLD HARGRAVE was killed near Hitchin Hertfordshire in 1926 in a motorcycle accident. He lived at 69 Minet Avenue Harlesden in 1921
I realise this is a long, long time ago but perhaps.
Perhaps someone has deeds to a house that name him.
Any information sought for family history research.
Thank you

Harlesden HARGRAVE lived in MINET AVENUE, 1921

I am trying to find some information about an uncle who had a rather unusual name. He was FREDERICK SAWTON LEOPOLD HARGRAVE (at least that what it looks like!) who lived at 69 MINET AVENUE in 1921. I realise this is in the deep and distant past but something that might ring bells with readers is that he was killed in a
motorcycle accident - but don't know what year.
Would love to hear from anyone who even vague remembers him or family. His wife was Henrietta (Hetti, nee Brown).

Thanks a lot
