Post reply -->London Hackney marie.smith32@virgin.net 26 Apr Hackney Moving to Hackney...Hi. I might be moving to Goulton Street, which is just off the south end of Lower Clapton Road. I don't know the area & just wondered if someone could tell me how safe it is compared to other parts of Hackney? Is it pretty dodgy at night etc? Need some enlightenment! Post reply -->London Hackney 3 Apr Hackney Motorcycle Storage or GarageHi, I am looking to buy a new sports bike, but due to the vandalism and attempted thefts I have experienced on my old one, I want to keep it in a secure garage or storage place. Are there any availabe around the Hackney Downs/Hackney Central area? I would happily rent a bit of shared garage space or something like that. Any ideas? Not a racing cyclist-just love long leisure rides (30-50 miles) I live just off Stoke Newington Common and would like to meet some local cyclists and go out riding regularly. I am in my early 30's and looking for a 20's-40's group to go out with...let me know if you can help! Mail-me Thanks, Giles Post reply -->London Hackney Giles Glover 11 Mar ^ HackneyIt's really uncool to do road cycling in Hackney. You do pavement cycling and scatter the unfortunate pedestrians like ninepins. They're the bottom of the food chain after all, so who cares. Allan Post reply -->London Hackney allanh256@yahoo.co.uk 19 Jun Hackney South Hackney? Wow!!After living in London for more than ten years always in zone 1 namely Barbican, Knightsbridge and Notting Hill with all sorts of preconceptions about the East side of London and a very grim picture of Hackney I just discovered a few months ago this amzingly beautiful and cool neighbourhood near Victoria Park in South Hackney! is is green, peaceful yet vibrant...I love it. Post reply -->London Hackney Gloria 21 Feb Hackney running partnerhi, i live just of mare street and would like to take up running. i am a beginner, and it would be good to run with someone who is also motivated to keep fit. at present i run in viccy park, but dont feel safe running alone early mornings. pls email me if you are interested Mail-me Post reply -->London Hackney ellen 9 Feb Hackney E2 book clubHi East Londoners, I'm hoping to start a book club in East London, roughly in the E2 area (so Bethnal Green, Hackney, Shoreditch, etc.) Of course, success all depends on who's interested and how many people can regularly attend. Ideally, we'd meet once a month and the club's members would choose books to read. Personally, I'm open to all sorts of books, but I guess the type of books might be something to be decided if we can reach critical mass. The number of members is a tricky one. Again, something to decide later perhaps. At the moment I'm experimenting with Google groups. If you're interested in joining the book club, post a message to the E2 book club group and I'll invite you to be a member. The email to post to is: Mail-me Hope we can get something going! Both Me and my wife were born and bred in Hackney in the late 1940's and experienced it when it was a lovely place to live in. We moved away in 1993 and now live in a beautiful village in Lincolnshire where you can relax and go through life without a fear in the world. Wish I'd done the move years ago. Post reply -->London Hackney Ken 17 Jul ^ HackneyHackney back when you lived there was not a nice place. I've read historical novels about Hackney and Bethnal Green and the areas were described as grim. It seems to be better now. People who are narrow-minded as you should move away and stop complaining on boards to cities you don't even live in anymore. Post reply -->London Hackney Steve 27 Oct |
