Docklands LA Fitness is hard to leave though!

I had a bad experience when I tried cancelling after my 12 month membership was up - they 'lost' hand delivered as well as registered mail letters ending the contract and asking that they stop billing me! It took nearly 4 months to ge them off my back - they have a really agressive membership team. Gym was fine while I was using it and floor staff were friendly but I'll never join LA again after all the hassle.

Docklands ...but the L.A. Fitness Gym isn

whereas the Reebok Gym is very nice. I've been a member for 5 months and I can't praise it enough - a wonderful facility.

Docklands Morning trains

It depends what time in the morning! I do Island Gardens to Canary Wharf every morning, and any time before 8am is usually pretty quiet. Starts to get busier up to 9am, but *NOTHING* compared to cramming yourself into a Jubilee or Northern Line train... :)

Docklands

Between 8 am and 9am the DLR is absolutely full to capacity and I suggest that you take the bus if travelling up to Canary Wharf. Sadly the DLR have failed to recognise that an ever increasing number of people are moving to the docklands area and they have made no attempt whatsoever to improve their service and to stop the overcrowding.

Docklands DLR

It is perhaps a little unfair to accuse the DLR of doing nothing to stop the overcrowding. Much of the line and stations are being rebuilt to take longer trains, but this doesn't happen overnight and DLR had to overcome considerable opposition from people who would be affected by the work.

Docklands Theres a surgery by Asda, but I go to the Barkantine practice

this was the only one I could join in the area, as it's done by post code. Try http://www.nhs.uk/root/localnhsservices/default.asp to find the surgeries for you, and phone them all to see if they are taking any new patients on.

Where exactly is the Barkantine Practice? I downloaded a map and found that there was a construction site at where it is supposed to be. Thanks

The Barkantine Practice is now on Mellish Street. It is a temporary surgery while they build the new one.

Docklands GPs on the Isle of Dogs

The Dockands Medical Centre on Spindrift Avenue is very good. There are 3 GPs and two nurses. The surgery is undergoing a large extension later this year and more doctors will be working there in due course. They are currently open to new patients.

Docklands Living in Docklands

Living in the Isle of Dogs is great, the best of all worlds. Easy to get out of London and down to the Channel Tunnel in an hour, 20 minutes to the West End from Canary Wharf, lots to do and getting better all the time.

Docklands

It is quite a sterile environment, favoured by some and hated by other. The communtiy feeling is not very strong and most people are at work all the time and away all of the other times. It is a generally safe, clean pleaseant area with the benefit of two world class malls on your doorstep, but there is the risk of terroism. At times it is slightly deserted as it is a business area more than residential. Most people, for example, would not consider living in the City of London (except the Barbican).
