Post or Ask something here in 'Crystal Palace' ^ Crystal Palace Its a nice areaI live on Hamlet Road which leads into Auckland Road from the Anerley Hill direction. Its a lovely green area, residential and peaceful. I know that Hamlet Road is a conservation area so nothing large and hideous can be built there, and assume Auckland is too. It is a short walk (uphill naturally!) to the Triangle. Its also close to the train station and the wonderful Crystal Palace Park (+ the sports centre). I can recommend the Auckland Surgery if you need a doctor. I have lived here for 2 and a half years and every day am still pleased that I chose this area to move to. Crystal Palace Getting Fit !Hey ~ I am just moving into CP and wondered if anyone could tell me if there is a public swimming pool or a good fitness centre/gym. Alternatively any good aerobics classes or similar ! Many thanks Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Nina 20 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal PalaceThe Beckenham Civic Centre is very good. Its been recently refurbished and is only a few miles away. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace 2 Mar Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal PalaceYou could try the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The swimming pool is hughe, 50 metres. I think they also do aerobics and other workout classes. Crystal Palace Transport LinksHi, I'm thinking of moving to Crystal Palace but I'm put off by the transport links from Central London after midnight Can anyone confirm just how difficult/easy it is to get back to CP in the early hours, particularly at weekends. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Dodd 11 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace bus links from west end to Crystal PalaceHiya I've lived here for over 5 years and work in the west end. If I'm out after the last train (at 11.37pm) has gone I either take the tube to Brixton and pick up a number 3 or 432 bus, or, if it's after the tubes stop running, I take a number 3 bus all the way home. It takes about 45 mins but, the advantages are: 1. You don't have to walk up either or the huge hills (which you encounter when taking the train to either Crystal Palace or Gipsy Hill 2. Most of buses on the no 3 route terminate at Crystal Palace so no danger of falling asleep and ending up atsome unheard of destination. There are also loads of great restuarants and several cool pubs/bars locally - which are handy if you have friends to go out with in the area. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Fenella 17 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace HELL NO...my girlfriend lives there, its a total nightmare to get to.. we go out in the west end and if she has to go home to CP she is clock watching from 10pm onwards and you have to make your way in time for overground stations to charing cross.. nightbuses really go through all of south and south east london and AVOID them. You could go to Clapham and get a bus from there? A taxi was 60 quid!! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Michael 14 Mar Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace buses...Buses from central london to crystal palace bus station late at night aren't too shabby. The number 3 runs all through the night from Oxford Circus and up to crystal palace, which is pretty useful if you're out and about in central london, and its pretty reliable too. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace 17 Mar Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace N3 is your best friendThe N3 runs every half an hour through the night and you can be in CP from central London in under 40mins. As far as night buses go, the N3 totally rocks! Depending on what end of CP you are moving to you can also get the 176, also a 24hr service. And come to think of it you could get the N68 if you lived nearer Westow hill end... Post reply -->London Crystal Palace woodys mom 12 May Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace Easy to get home at nightYep - I agree. It does seem that CP is miles out but its easy to get home late at night. If you miss the last train you can catch a bus (N3 from Regent Street for example) which goes to the bus terminus at the triangle. Or get the tube to Brixton and get a bus from there. Or if you are really bone idle/filthy rich you can get a mini cab for about £30! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Mandy 11 Mar Should we remove this post ? Crystal PalaceI am thinking of renting out a share flat near crystal palace museum. I'm working in Waterloo area - would anyone tell me how difficult it is to get to/from crystal palace - waterloo..please help! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Pare 29 Jan Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal PalaceReally easy by bus, bike or car. I work near Waterloo and it's fine. You could also use the trains to W'loo East from CP which take about 15 mins. (1 stop on the Jubilee Line). Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Mandy 11 Mar Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace How long by bike?Hi, I notice you mention it's really easy by bus and bike - how long (roughly) does the number 3 take during normal work hours to get to, say, Trafalgar Square? And what's the cycle like to Waterloo? My husband and I are moving in two days and hopeful that we can continue our cheap bus/bike commute as we have done in Hackney, but slightly worried about how long it's going to take... Thanks! Our boiler stopped working 2 weeks ago and although we've had 3 men out to look at it, 2 of them have then not called back to arrange a time to fix it and the other promised to order parts but has now gone awol! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Amy 24 Jan Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal PalaceWhat about using British Gas? They probably aren't the cheapest, but at least you could take them to task if they don't pitch at your house and you'd have a reliable guarantee for their work Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Mike 31 Jan Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal PalaceSAGLIO a company based in Catford. Crystal Palace LIVING IN CRYSTAL PALACEWe are thinking of buying a house in Crystal Palace and wanted to know the layout of the place. Does anyone have suggestions of nice roads to live on/roads to avoid etc etc.... Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Tina 19 Jan Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palacehi, i live on alexandra drive and anywhere round there is great. i think the whole of crystal palace is fabulous - great houses, beautiful park, tons of bars and restaurants and a quick train into town. sometimes it feels more like a village than a part of london. i've lived all over london and i can't imagine going anywhere else now. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace annie 29 Jan Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace anacuesta@homechoice.co.ukI live in Sylvan Road, which is lovely. There are great views and parks. In the triangle there are nice coffee places and restaurants, nice shops and one bohemian market. I like everywhere in Crystal Palace, although my favourite road is Belvedere Road. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Ana 3 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace TrickyIs it a house or a flat you are after? Houses are tricky in CP as they've all been turned into flats. There are a number of newish (1980s houses) in the triangle itself - Ovett Close etc. They go for about £250k but a bit to close to the high street for me. If it's a flat you're after most are period conversions and a lot of them have very ill proportioned rooms. Go for a flat on the Dulwich Estate - not ex local. Most of them are walking distance to the triangle. Great flats with huge rooms and decent price - typically £210k for a 2 bed. They come up once in a while and disappear before you can blink so you need to be quick - good luck Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Mft Bft 12 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace crystal palaceThicket Road is just great, quite, with access to the park from below, and trees on both sides of the road. I live there, and just love it! Good luck! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace ale 13 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal PalaceDon't rule out more modern property. Have a look at Spinney Gardens tucked behind Dulwich Upper Woods. These are architect designed houses with passive heating and some really interesting features. There are about fifty properties some houses, some flats. Take a walk round.
