Crystal Palace Descendents of Thomas RobertsI am looking for descendents of Thomas & Elizabeth Roberts. They lived at 112 Landcroft Road in 1901. Thomas was my great uncle. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace vincent 5 Mar Should we remove this post ? Crystal Palace Crystal Palace bus terminusDuring the early 1960s I dated a girl with a lovely personality who lived Elder Road, West Norwood: I used to live in Kidbrooke at the time. We used to spend time in Crystal Palace Park near the Rockhills entrance by the transmission mast. From a stop opposite the bus terminus at 10 pm I used to board a 122 which took me almost home: the journey took 45 minutes +/-. On one occasion I fell asleep on the bus and ended up in Woolwich and spent another 45 minutes walking home. In recent years' I have returned to the area near the bus terminus and found that Crystal Palace still retains much of its ambience of the early 1960s though I imagine most of shops have changed ownership. Has anyone else spotted any local changes? Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Chris Miller 6 Mar Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace The girlI am not sure what happened to the girl, but I think she married someone during the following year which does not surprise me as she had a lovely personality. It was probably in her best interest as I was in a lousy apprenticeship electrician job for which I was absolutely useless and never should have been employed as such; and the job destroyed me. It did not help that I was retiring to bed at 23:30 hours and arising at 06:00 hours to go to work which left me absolutely tired. So the girl would have been better off without me and probably had a happier life which she deserved. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Chris Miller 7 May Should we remove this post ? Crystal Palace WARNING - AVOID THIS TRADESMANSorry, I know you shouldn't post complaints, but if you can praise a tradesman, why not be able to do the opposite and save people grief. I hope you will accept this. Avoid FEDERATION PROPERTY MAINTENANCE - a south London based individual who recently advertised in the Croydon Advertiser. He did some work for me and I wish he hadn't. Won't go into it on here, but believe me, avoid him. It is a short bus ride from Crystal Palace (bus 245 I think!) past Penge. Nice clean facilities, quiet pool, spa centre with jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. Crystal Palace Dreadful estate agent in Crystal Palace - DO NOT USE!!If you're thinking of selling your property, take this as a warning - do not use STREETS AHEAD - they are absolutely diabolical - I found out the hard way! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Unhappy seller 26 Sep Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace STREETS AHEADI totally agree. I used them to sell my flat in Crystal Palace, they turned up unannounced, trying to let them selves in twice, on a saturday morning while I was sick and asleep. Totally unprofessional reduced the price of my property on their webiste, caused problems with potential buyers, when I received an offer of my asking proce was told buyer was ready to go, only to find out she didn't even have her mortgage in place. Crystal Palace Auckland RoadI'd be greatful for some general feedback on Auckland Road, SE19 i.e. positive or negative comments. Your welcome to email me at Mail-me It seems to be a nice part of Crystal Palace and looks like a nice park nearby. Look forward to hear from you. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Bernadette 27 Apr Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace re Auckland RoadHi I live just off Auckland Road. Great road with some fantastic victorian buildings. Also local doctors' surgery located on road as well-handy. Norwood lakes park is very nice-there's a little wooded walk way that gets you to Maberly rd and running around the boating pond is great (if you're an angler you can also join the local club). Harris tech school also has sports facilities you can use and gym membership. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace 22 Aug Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace Reply 2 Aucland RoadIt is a lovely area if u do not mind kids roaming around as there are a few schools around but it is a lovely area and quite quiet most of the time. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace 29 Oct Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace Its a nice areaI live on Hamlet Road which leads into Auckland Road from the Anerley Hill direction. Its a lovely green area, residential and peaceful. I know that Hamlet Road is a conservation area so nothing large and hideous can be built there, and assume Auckland is too. It is a short walk (uphill naturally!) to the Triangle. Its also close to the train station and the wonderful Crystal Palace Park (+ the sports centre). I can recommend the Auckland Surgery if you need a doctor. I have lived here for 2 and a half years and every day am still pleased that I chose this area to move to. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace 21 Jul Should we remove this post ? Crystal Palace Transport LinksHi, I'm thinking of moving to Crystal Palace but I'm put off by the transport links from Central London after midnight Can anyone confirm just how difficult/easy it is to get back to CP in the early hours, particularly at weekends. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Dodd 11 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace bus links from west end to Crystal PalaceHiya I've lived here for over 5 years and work in the west end. If I'm out after the last train (at 11.37pm) has gone I either take the tube to Brixton and pick up a number 3 or 432 bus, or, if it's after the tubes stop running, I take a number 3 bus all the way home. It takes about 45 mins but, the advantages are: 1. You don't have to walk up either or the huge hills (which you encounter when taking the train to either Crystal Palace or Gipsy Hill 2. Most of buses on the no 3 route terminate at Crystal Palace so no danger of falling asleep and ending up atsome unheard of destination. There are also loads of great restuarants and several cool pubs/bars locally - which are handy if you have friends to go out with in the area. Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Fenella 17 Feb Should we remove this post ? ^ Crystal Palace HELL NO...my girlfriend lives there, its a total nightmare to get to.. we go out in the west end and if she has to go home to CP she is clock watching from 10pm onwards and you have to make your way in time for overground stations to charing cross.. nightbuses really go through all of south and south east london and AVOID them. You could go to Clapham and get a bus from there? A taxi was 60 quid!! Post reply -->London Crystal Palace Michael 14 Mar Should we remove this post ? |
