Clapham Junction 17 Aug 1944

Was the Date of the bomb your referring to. My Great Nan wa son the Bus outside the cinema when the bomb hit. 14 of the 28 persons killed were on the number 77 Bus. G Nan wa son the way to watch "gone with the wind" Apparently.

she was laid out for as dead and covered until she came to and scared the wits out of people. She was one of the few to survive from the bus and was picking bits of bus window glass out of her skin until the day she died.

 Mail-me

Would be interested ot hear from others with historical family "memories" or stories about this bomb.

Clapham Junction - Venue

Hi, I am thinking of starting an Up The Junction Club and am looking for a suitable venue, I haven't been to either of these places (Bedford Arms or Battersea Arts Centre) and am wondering if you would think them suitable. If not, I think the Tea House in Battersea Park might be a good idea. Is the Battersea Arts Centre the old Polytechnic in Battersea Park Road.

Clapham Junction Intermediate Badminton Club

Intermediate Badminton Players wanted to strengthen our Sunday badminton group

We presently have a good group of around 14 players, but not everyone can play every week, some weeks we get 6 players other weeks 12 players, we want to get this up to a regular group or 20 ish and set up some competitions between the group, we play both doubles & singles and only use feathers,

We age between late 20’s to mid 40’s, Most of us are intermediate but we have a few advanced player that come down every few weeks which makes for some fantastic games

We play on Sundays in SW11 from 1-3pm bring a towel & lots of water

We’ve already found 4 regular new members from the net and one guy is outstanding!

If you’re interested emu me @  Mail-me

Clapham Junction Looking for drama group and Life drawing classes

Can anyone help me find a amateur drama group and a life drawing workshop in the Clapham or surrounding area. I have abandoned both these two passions of mine for the last few years and desperately want to get back into both. I would be grateful for any advice you can give me. Thanks

the art shop on lavender hill has some ads for life drawing. Try the Battersea Arts Centre for advice on drama groups - the Putney arts theatre otherwise does good amateur stuff. The Battersea library always advertises group/club things too.

Clapham Junction My Great nan Was in the V1 Blast of the 17 Aug 44

and was lucky to survive, they had her laid out as dead at the side of the road until her son found her there and found her breathing. She removed window glass for the rest of her life. She was on her way (so the story goes) to see Gone with the wind at a theater.

Clapham Junction Interested in writing?

Hi

I'm looking to see if there are any folks in the Clapham area who are budding writers and might be interested in forming some kind of group.

I'm writing a book and have had feedback from friends, but it would be great to have impartial feedback, plus we might be able to help each other with contacts in the publishing world not necessarily just for books but for magazine articles, blogs, screenwriting etc.

If you're interested in this, get in touch! If nothing else, it would be quite fun to talk about it over a glass of wine, but hopefully we might learn something or get some great ideas and advice. mail:  Mail-me
