Travel Travelcards

A little publicised relaxation of the regulations governing bus travel means that from last year if you have a travelcard (bus/train/tube) you only need it to cover the zones that you use the tube or train in, not the bues. Therefore, if for example you live in Zone 4 and get off the tube in Zone 3, you only need the travelcard to cover you for up to Zone 3 and any bus journey beyond that is free! No wonder London Transport aren't sharing this little nugget!

Travel So let me get this right...

If you travel outside Zone 1, any valid Travelcard will take you anywhere on the bus, or is it just one Zone beyond where the Travelcard is valid ?

Travel If you have a travelcard for zone 1

the bus will take you as many other zones as you want to go for nothing! Good huh? I didn't believe it at first, but I got it confirmed by London Transport and it's true.

Travel Save money on bus

I guess lots of people already know this, but it's still good to remind others;
if you don't take the public transport very often, it's worth buying only "Saver Tickets". It's worth 65p, you buy it by pack of 6 in newsagents, and you can use it for one fare in any zone at any time in any bus (not on the tube, neither on the train). Ask for Savers at your local newsagents (the ones who sell travel card should have them too). It's quite good because otherwise you may £1 for travelling the same journey.

Travel travelcards/even cheaper than that

I have been forking out loads on these cards for zones1/4 on the tube, and the damn thing breaks down with unfailing regularity,now I buy zones 1/4 bus pass only, saves me over £20.00 per week from the usual travelcard@ £30, you can only go on the bus, but at the end of the day it doesn't take that much longer, plus I like to see the daylight, it works out to under £1.00 per day, they don't advertise those anywhere/ another hidden nugget, cheaper than the 65p each rip-off tickets, also you can buy a single travelcard for the bus costing around £2.00 for the entire day for anytime these passses are relevant for,.

Travel how long does it take to get from zone 4 to cent london on bus?

Also, does anyone know if there are any places in SE London that have transport links to Kingston without having to go to waterloo or victoria first? I don't live in London yet so I have no clue....it would be nice to not have to travel through all 6 zones.
