Post or Ask something here in 'Pets' Pets How difficult is it to find pet friendly accommadation in LondonI'm in rented accommodation at the moment (in London) but would love to move somewhere far nicer. I've posted a 'wanted' ad elsewhere but have had nothing but scammers respond. How difficult is it to find a place in London that allows pets? Is it as impossible as it seems? And how might I best go about finding pet friendly accommodation? Any advice appreciated. The only problem is that my husband is now going back to work, so we are runnign out of time to rehome them, which was always our intention but we thought we had more time. I had to pay £600 each for them to take them out of one bad home, and the place they were about to go to was even worse! They will come with everything they need, including their kennel club papers, and some food to help them settle in.Great with people, please just make me an offer and you can take one of them home. I need to find a good vet in the area, especially one who is good with small animals. Please let me know if you can recommend anyone. Many thanks :) Mail-me Post reply -->London Pets Jasmin 15 Apr ^ Pets Good VetA very good vet is Ms Robson in Highshore Rd SE15. My family pets (cats, dogs, rabbits etc) have been with her for thirty years and I really wouldn't go anywhere else - even now I have moved and have a longer journey I still go there rather than risk somewhere else. I and others have had bad experiences of Lomax in Dulwich - everything from misdiagnosing liver failure and cancer as viruses to treading through parvo excrement in reception. A couple of neighbours didn't get on with Ms Robson but that is because she told them they were wrong to leave their pets ill for so long and only brought them in too late. Good luck. Post reply -->London Pets chicagomaki 5 Apr Pets DOG WALKER NEEDED - mornings - cash in handWe're looking for a reliable person to walk our dog first thing in the morning in Hackney Wick. We can't afford to pay the normal dog walking rates, so this may suit either a school/college student, someone between jobs or maybe a retired person looking to suppliment their income. This would be required Monday to Friday, ideally between the hours of 6 and 8am, and for about an hour. On the occassions that the dog walker has other commitments, we can be flexible and during the school holidays we would probably be able to manage the mornings ourselves. We could pay £5 each day (£100 per month), paid on a week by week basis. Our dog is a shetland sheepdog, very well behaved and extremely friendly. He is a little timid around children, but other than that, a joy to be with. Two references will be required. Vacinated and neutered. I recently joined a hiking group and plan to go hiking for a long weekend at least 3 more times this year, the next event is early May. So I am looking for someone in a similar situation who maybe needs to travel and does not want a stranger coming in to feed their cat for 1 hour a day. This way your cat could come and enjoy the time with me and my cats and vice versa a mutual swap. I think this could really work. Please mail me if you are in a similar situation and would be interested in this. Mail me Mail-me Post reply -->London Pets Samantha 29 Mar ^ Pets Yes, I would be interested!Hi Sam! I would be very interested in the swap as I am going away in June and I was looking for an alternative like this for a long time. We have a lovely garden flat with a cat about 9. Now we would like a kitten to be her companion. Can anyone help? We don't want to take a pair, which the re-homing charities really push on you. W also don't want to pay a fortune fo a special breed. We are responsible owners and so pay cat insurance etc, and we can't afford this for 3 cats! If you can help, do get in touch. Post reply -->London Pets Louise 17 Mar Pets House/Pet sitterHi there...I am an actress based currently based in Fulham. I'd like to get in touch with other pet owners who'd be interested in looking after him when I go away from home (rarely!) in exchange for me doing the same for them. I hate the idea of putting him in kennels and don't think I could ever bring myself to do it. Please e-mail me if this is something you'd be interested in. If there are a few of us, we could even set up a group of contacts offering the same service. Mail-me East/NE London is good - but I guess it doesn't matter that much if we're not present in any case. I miss having a pet as grew up on a farm with several pets. I have been looking at puppies but dont have one yet. We currently have a ground floor flat with a small outside area and parks nearby and am working in the city. Wondering if others have managed to sucessfully own a very small dog in this type of situation without the dog becoming depressed during the day when the owner is not there. I guess I am asking if it is possible. as the care of any pet is very important. Any suggestions? Post reply -->London Pets ace_leanne@hotmail.com 6 Feb ^ PetsHi I have a mini daschund and live in a top floor flat with no garden and live in London. We do have a dog walker come and take her out everyday for an hour at lunch times so she is only on her own for a few hours at a time. Our dog is very happy and showed no signs of depression. In NYC every one has dogs in apartments with no gardens, its slightly different in London as in my experience people take a dim view on this. If you are going to spend enough time and can look after a dog then get one. The outside space is irrelevant as im sure you would not leave your dog outside when at work anyway, so this makes no difference. As long as you walk you dog enough it will be fine and happy!
