Post or Ask something here in 'Film Club' Film Club Film Club - Fulham/West LondonI am interested in setting up a film club in the West london area. I enjoy art house, documentary and foreign film such as La Haine, Broken Embraces,Metropolis, Amores Perros, Run Lola Run, The Watermelon Woman, Secrets and lies, Orlando, The Bicycle Thieves, Life is Beautiful and Precious. I also like the documentary work of Nick Broomfield, Fredrick Wiseman,Dennis O'Rouke and Kim Longinotto. I think it would be great to establish a place to discuss film away from a quick chat at the office. It would be nice to meet like minded people. I'm currently looking for a home for us, if you have any ideas or suggestions or would like to join please contact me: Mail-me Post reply -->London Film Club cherry-more@hotmail.com 28 Aug Film Club Free screening: Quien Dijo Miedo? 9 September 2010Quien Dijo Miedo (18) (108 mins) *English subtitles Panel discussion featuring: René Guillermo Amador Padilla (international guest) Thursday 9 September 2010 (7.00 - 9.30pm) Quien Dijo Miedo (Who Is Afraid? in English) follows René Guillermo Amador Padilla during the Honduran people's resistance against the military coup of 28 June 2009. René joined the National Popular Resistance Front (FRNP) on the first day of the coup. The story tells of a country awakened by the events that occurred and their constant battle against intervention by the United States in its territory. Acclaimed filmmakers Katia Lara and Carlos del Valle braved repression and surveillance by the coup government, and eventually left Honduras in exile to finish the film. I'm looking to start arranging regular film nights in and around Wimbledon - anything from artsy foreign-language films to silly Big Arnie blockbusters, with some face-palm stupid comedy in between. And I'm hoping there'll be some interesting chat and perhaps some pizza and coffee consumption along the way - as informal as we can possibly make it. Also, there are a couple of really good cinemas in Wimbledon, so we can see what's happening there, too. Drop me a line! Mail-me Andy (Current favourite film - I'm a Cyborg) Post reply -->London Film Club Andy 21 Aug ^ Film Club Looking to meet new people who love films!Hey Andy, I know Wimbledon really well as I was brought up round there. Cinema nights in that area sound good to me. Let me know when you're arranging a trip and what film you're wanting to see and I'll let you know if I'm free. It would probably be in the next two weeks as I want to get a few responses first. Age, gender, class, ethnicity, religion doesn't matter as long as you are just interested in friendship. I have a couple of people interested so far ages ranging from 44 to 21. Let's face it London can be a bit of a difficult place to find new friends outside of work/college so I think a movie club would be a great way of meeting people from different backgrounds. The idea would be chilling out and watching movies together, have a few drinks and some great conversation (hopefully)! So if your interested in movies, in a bit of a rut or finding your social circle is drifting get in contact! xoxoChantellexoxo @ h o t m a i l . c o . uk (sorry posted it wrong the previous time!!) Broad range of tastes within group. Range of ages too. We also contact each other in between meetings and arrange cinema trips (and some other social activities). We're all really friendly!
