Cycling Beware Evans Warehouse Sale - Bit of a scam

I travelled for hours across London to get there and then queued for 2 hrs to get in. There were none of the 'massive' reductions advertised on the flyer. They were drip-feeding bikes at little more than sales reductions, so (like a lot of other people) I ending up buying clothes and accessories - and these were mostly all at their website sale prices too.

Don't be fooled - they are creating a captive market and forcing people to buy something not that cheap to justify the hassle of going there in the first place.

Cycling Help Needed:

Hello!

I'm an MSc media researcher at the LSE conducting a study on how individuals receive and respond to information about energy efficiency. Despite all the media and marketing hype around green, what it means for the complex lives of regular people is alarmingly under-studied. I'd like to change that, and I could use your help!

I'd love the chance to interview some London cyclists for your unique perspective. I've posted a few details about my project and the interactive interview I'd like to conduct at
. Please visit the site for more info, or send me an email directly at Mail-me if you might be interested.

Please also feel free to pass this along! Thanks so much for your time and help!

Cheers, Ryan

Cycling looking for a cycling buddy

Hi,

I am F/25 and live in the Hounslow area. I am looking for anyone that is into their cycling. I really used to be into it but have hardly ridden at all in the past year so would like to get back into it with someone as going it alone is a bit boring.

Also where is the best place to cycle round here as I don’t like to ride on the busy roads too much!?

Thanks :)

Cycling Lost and Found

Hi! As I walked to Willesden Junction Station on Friday 16th June at about 7pm ish, I watched in horror as a female cyclist's beaootiful scarf flew from her bike and under the wheels of the number 18 bus as she peddled home along the Harrow Road. I rescued the scarf and waved it in the air shouting "stop that cyclist" but to no avail. If you are that cyclist, or know someone who is surely gutted to have lost their lovely scarf, please contact me with a description of the item & i'll return it by post. Cheers. Mail-me

Cycling Moan at cycle shop

Just had a really crap experience having bought a bike from London Fields Cycles in Hackney. Given to me with faulty crank (pre delivery inspection anyone?), repaired using odd coloured pedal stems and took 6 months to get matching ones. They were mystified that I wanted my brand spanking new bike to look like a new bike with matching pedals. By the end of it they were f**cking rude and refused to discuss it any more. Equally mystified when I suggested a set of brake pads might be nice in the way of compensation - they actually refused before I persuaded them. I'm sure they've got their story ('it's not our fault Trek took so long sending the parts') but I am really p*ssed off with them and this is my way of feeling better about it.

Unhelpful and rude gits. I only went there to support an independent retailer. Next time I'll just go to Evans :-(

Cycling me too at Brick Lane Cycles

Had a similar experience at Brick Lane Cycles. PHONED (!) to say I was going to be late for pickup so would collect first thing next morning, hope that was OK ?? :-

"Well not really there is a £5 charge."

Not a good response to someone who was trying very hard to get there.

To be fair this is an enthusiasts' shop: it was evident even in the short period that I was there that people who are real cycling enthusiasts, are using this shop.

However for me for a person who knows a bit about bikes but doesn't cycle over mountain peaks every weekend I found the customer service from the non-native English speakers pretty frosty and to be frank -rude. This could be a culural thing that I misinterpreted, but then I've got nothing to go on:

Cycling North London

Hi everybody!
I'm looking for cycling buddies in and around North London. Any fitness level, preferably a roady (I have a racing bike), someone who is into both cycling fast in heavy traffic and slow in quiet countryside.
I'm 33, cycle to/from work every day & longer distances at weekends, enjoy meeting new people, a bit of a bohemian but generally a good girl!! Please get in touch! Mail-me
